Robert De Niro at his very best.

Travis Bickle: You're only as healthy as you feel.

Travis Bickle: You talkin' to me?

This was an excellent movie. Robert De Niro is an excellent actor, and this was another great film of his. Jodi Foster's small part in this movie was great as well. A must see!!! :)

This movie is a long drawn out descent into madness. The first time I saw this film I was shocked by how the storyline progressed. This film is the antithesis of predictable. I can honestly say that after watching this film I was utterly speechless, I rewinded the tape and watche...( read more)d the film again, after the second viewing of this film I knew that I loved it. The pure and utter method to Travis Bickle's madness was incredibly confusing but at the end of the film his redemption is apparent yet is still quite bittersweet. You as the audience member know that despite his progression as a person he is still doomed to the dark and bleak life of a New York Taxi Driver. This is one of the best films ever made, period.

I Can't say much for Taxi Driver that it doesn't say for itself through the years and years its had to reverberate through the annals of film. Whether you like it or not, it's a classic, something other films will be inspired by. Maybe there are some that do it better, may...( read more)be not. What I got out of it was Scorsese doing a decent job for a change. He finds his hook and sticks with it, that hook being one Robert De Niro and his various assortment of revolvers. Now, I liked this film. Yeah, social commentary, violence, what not, a bit of this and that. But, I have to admit that those 3 1/2 stars are for Bickle's .44 magnum alone. WOW!

Something of a masterpiece. Certainly not like anything I've ever seen before.

What a violent movie! De Niro his just trully asome in is taxi driver.. Love Harvey Keitel too, what a good actor!

The impact this film has had on cinema has been vast. A film true to its time, a social commentary on the public's lack of faith in politicians and the possible extent their paranoia could lead us. Plus you have three people on top of their game, Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorsese an...( read more)d Paul Schrader, all masters in their professions.

Can't believe I've spent half my life driving a hack and never seen this movie

Shallow. De Niro does a good job, but the story in itself gives a rather narrow perspective on the anxietys of Mr Bickle and the people he meets. Not enough depth to keep me interested. Although the cinematography does look quite convincing in itself.

Scorses's masterpiece; an unflinching glimpse and meditation on the post-Nixon era in New York City where the political climate is as tense as the neurosis of it's inhabitants. The film's technique in bringing the viewer into the mind of Travis Bickle is effective in creating a v...( read more)iscereal experience while watching it; it's as though you are morphing into him, but not really. It's a great psychological case study of madness with the eventual redemption of reclaiming one's sanity as the footnote to vigilante prediliction; a hero is but a saint whose fall from grace is as tragic as the victim whom he saves.

Who knew shaving your hair into a mohawk and wearing a gun strap shirtless can be so inviting? De Niro looks like he's ready to snap on any passerby. He can obsess with the best of them, but with much more grace. Bulletproof vest? No, he doesn't need it. He can absorb bullets and...( read more) live to imagine a beautiful woman in a taxi cab.

Increible film by Martin Scorsese, his second masterpiece (the first being Mean Streets), Robert De Niro is as brilliant as ever in his role as an insane taxi driver who slowly goes over the edge.

Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster and the director: great!

Outstanding film. One of Scorsese's best and the second best film of 1976. The story is amazing when it describes how New York is and how the people are. The acting by De Niro, Foster and Keitel are incredible and is one of the best performances of their careers. This film also h...( read more)ad one of the most creative endings, is it real or was it a dream, if it was real how will Bickle act in the future?

Maybe I didn't get it, but this movie is IMHO just boring !
  • August 5, 2009
Travis is the god of humanity! The human condition is depicted perfectly in this movie.
  • August 4, 2009
orses's masterpiece and the sweet goodbye from Bernard Herrmann. Forget De Niro and 'You talking to me?', this is a moral tale of great complexity and subtlety. THe images oscillate infuriatingly between crude objectivity and poetic subjectivity... and Cybil Shepherd is fabulous.

I was too young when I saw this, I'll probably need to see this again to give it the review it deserves.
  • August 2, 2009
    Ok film, nothing special though.
  • August 1, 2009
Tá mais pra uma fantasia do escritor mesmo do que para algo real. É como pudesse colocar em prática os pensamentos de justiça olho por olho das pessoas sem cultura que vivem nas cidades grandes.

Mas eu realmente esperava mais desse filme

Incredible cast and direction, but it's De Niro's movie, clearly. He's amazing in every scene and builds this incredibly intense character.
  • July 27, 2009
Clearly from a different era. Also, I'm not quite sure what to make of the epilogue.

Finally got to see it and im unimpressed.
