This film from Japan, about two 16th century samurai warlordsn who are lifelong enemies, just didn't grab me at all. It had the look of a Kurosawa film -- costumes, scenery, etc. -- without the poetry or the soul. With the exception of a couple of battle scenes, I found it very dull. I didn't care about the characters at all, and the American narrator irritated the hell out of me. Don't tell me about it, show it on the screen as part of the action. I wanted to turn it off halfway through, but made myself sit through the entire film. The only thing that accomplished was to make me want to go watch "Throne of Blood" or "Seven Samurai" again.
