Plot: In this first feature of the popular animated franchise, Tenchi and company find their lives disrupted by the time-traveling entity Kain, who escapes from subspace and threatens revenge upon the Jurai...( read more read more... ) royal family (including its emperor, Tenchi). Kain goes back in time to 1970 to kill Tenchi's mother before he is born, so Tenchi and friends follow him. Seeing his now-dead mother alive in the past opens old wounds for our hero.

    Great movie. Tenchi's mom is someone to be reckoned with. Very well done. I love time travel plots.

    I've always loved the character design in this series and I was pleased to see all the main characters getting some screen time in the film. For a movie about time travelling it was surprisingly coherent and didn't descend into confusion like most time travelling stories do.

    My only problem with the story is that the main villian - Kain - is pretty unoriginal and dull. The rest of the cast however are great and the goofy comedy from the tv series is still present (21.11.07)
