  At times fun, but still a flawed zapata western, the collision of ideas here don't quite sum up well. On one side we have a revenge story that the movie drops and then picks up near the end. We have a charismatic revolutionary, but at the same time he acts like another nasty bandit. The story can't make up it's mind in how it wants to portray Tepepa. The realization that the revolution against Diaz didn't end up the problems for Mexico comes out rather nicely, but then everything boils down to a final action sequence. Welles seems to be just dragging himself in the performance here, sometimes doing a little echo to his role in Touch of Evil. Milian is playing his usual mexican bandido character. While not having the simplistic political nature of films like el chuncho quien sabe and Requiescant the flaws weight too much to put this in a higher spot amongst other italo westerns.
