Not bad. The big cast have a good chemistry but are let down by a very weak final 20 minutes and the usual sleazy saxaphone music.
wow i have just seen this 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie...this has got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...i think that the director of this Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie because he keeps you on the edge's of your seats throughout this movie because you never know what's going to happen next/throughout this movie...this has a good cast of actors n mel gibson, kurt russell steal this whole movie...this is a intersting movie 2 watch n its 1 of the cult 1980's movies
I wasn't that impresed with this one even though the movie has all A list actors...the story was ok but not exciting.
ahhh what do you want me to say 3 of my favorite actors in this one :Mel , Kurt and Michelle.
the story was ok and the actig was Good =)
Not very good. Basically Mel Gibson plays a drug dealer who is mates with a LA cop, and they fall out over Michelle Pfieffer. Original, eh?The hot tob scene is actually a pretty good love scene, and Michelle Pfieffer does offer pretty good eye candy. Its definitely a late night movie that you may flick over and watch for a bit.
Love, love this movie-the triangle between mel, michelle, and kurt was great, but it's the hot tub scene that steals the movie!!
Great cast. 80s movie about two friends on the opposite sides of the track who fall for the same woman.
All star cast. But it was before any of them were really seasoned and Mel Gibson still had his australian accent. The plot is pretty involved but something about the whole film feels rushed and there are some questionable 'angle of shot' choices that I would argue are awkward to look at.
I liked every one in this movie and that was good enough for me. Not one for repeat viewing, so no DVD for me.
i still swoon when mel gibson's character reveals to michele pfeiffer's that she is the reason why they share a lawyer.
Santa Maria... This is another one on my Top 10 List. Watched over 50 times. Great story and love triangle.
lovely Michelle holds thin plot together-
childhood friendship and conflict of loyalties adds interesting dimension to normal predictable drug story- nice to see
narrow minded goal centered government agency-
This is actually not a bad movie. This is the first movie i have seen with Mel Gibson in it that is any good. Not a great plot but ok. Worth a watch but nothing more.
A movie about a drug dealer (Gibson), his best friend (Russel), and the women of both of their desire (Pfeiffer). Good cast, but not good enough to make this plot..credible..and interesting! Pretty average.
the gibson/russell combo was great! you gotta love this movie, especially if you're an 80's movies fan like me
It might be tempting to write it off, but this tale of rival friends and the woman they both admire has real texture and sting to it. After some reflection, the only regrettable thing about it is that awful mid-'80's saxophone soundtrack that turns every love scene into a bad Glenn Frey video.
This should be a curiously unthrilling thriller between a drug dealer and cop who are pals falling in love with a beautiful restaurant owner.
For a film that was made at the latter end of the 80's this film is surprisingly modern in the way it tells its story and in the way that the film moves along.
Admittedly, it is still very much an 80s film but the film concerntrates much more on the characters and their interaction with each other in a way that is almost late 90s in feel.
At the heart of this film is the relationship between two old friends (old and maybe not really friends) and everything revolves around them and the nature of their friendship. Secondary to this is their loyalty to their respective jobs and how this relates to their friendship. Tertiary relationships include the new work relationship between Kurt Russel and J.T Walsh (who do not like each other but do the same job) and both Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell's relationship with Micheel Pfeiffer. Finally, there's the (new, work related genuine friendship) between Mel Gibson and Raul Julia.
My cousin sat down expecting an 80s action flick but was pleasantly surprised and usually, this type of thing wouldn't appeal to him.
Ok it has it's cheesey moments and obligatory soft focus, tricky camera, non-nudity sex scene in it that could've been ommited and saved five minutes but this (apart from the 80s period look) can easily be a modern film.
Better than you would think.
