The 300 Spartans
A colorful action film about the Battle Of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. in which the Spartans defend themselves for a Persian invasion against overwhelming odds. King Leodinas (Richard Egan) rallies the locals to stop the attack of thousands of plundering Persian invaders led by evil King Xerxes (David Farrar). Sir Ralph Richardson as Themistocles of Athens leads the international cast this the spectacular cinematic conflict that has more emphasis on action rather than historical accuracy. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"As sword-and-sandal films go, 'The 300 Spartans' is a good one, but don't expect hard-edged action and graphic violence of the '300' sort."
‑ James Plath, Movie Metropolis
"The poor Spartans, all 300 of them, are in a supercilious film."
‑ Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews
"The battles seem more realistic because they are done essentially like a stage play in real time. This requires real skill and training."
‑ Robert Roten, Laramie Movie Scope
"Tecnicamente eficiente (especialmente no que diz respeito aos figurinos), o filme dilui sua fascinante base histórica em romances proibidos, diálogos superficiais e batalhas desinteressantes."
‑ Pablo Villaca, Cinema em Cena
