The style and flourishes of this film take it head and shoulders above many similar themed horror entries. This is seminal in that it no doubt is the original influence of both Seven and the Saw series.

The death traps here are similar to those you're used to heroes surviving...( read more), but the victims are just that. (Not heroes) So the body count rises as the traps and 30's art nouveu stylistic sets and costumes escalate. Price doesn't have to break a sweat with this one, but his vocal work is much appreciated.

Watched this recently not having seen it since I was a kid and it is even more amazing then I remember.

Though as a kid "amazing" had more to do with thinking it was kinda creepy and gross.

Now a days this kind of "amazing" has more to do with the massive amounts of CHEES...( read more)E.

I know many people tend to sort of blow him off as an "over the top ham"...but Vincent Price is such a powerful part of the "television psyche" of my youth that I'm always enthralled with his films. To me, he is like the eccentric uncle that you always enjoy seeing.

This film (while reaching maximum cheese capacity) has influenced many modern day horror films and is worth watching just for side-kick Vulnavia's amazing (ever changing) costumes, the over the top sets and elaborate murder set-ups.

    Definately "so bad...it's good" material.

One of Vincent Price's best, The Abominable Dr. Phibes is a strange and entertaining film. The story is fantastic, backed by fabulous performances and beautiful atmosphere. A great movie, very much recommended.

Horror Not to Miss List Commentary:
Vincent Price, in glorious color with an AMAZING primary set, plays an ingenious serial killer who kills his victims in odd ways, the scenes of which are still innovative and original in today's market. The film also holds onto Prince's signatu...( read more)re Gothic horror themes with the character of Phibes and his lair. A vastly underrated Price movie, and a hugely underseen horror classic.

Bloody good black comedy with the heavyweights Vincent Price and Joseph Cotten. Dr. Anton Phibes seeks revenge against the surgeons that, according to him, were responsible of the death of his beautiful wife, played by the graceful Caroline Munro. great art deco sets and overall ...( read more)camp feeling.

The original story makes for a strange little movie. The movie is reminiscent of old pulp horror books. More fun than thrills.

Tongue in cheek with a modest budget, but very imaginative with some distinctive sets, jokes, and scary creepiness.

The good doctor starts to kill the team of medical doctors who were working on his wife when she died on the surgery table. In a manner similar in style to Se7en, they are killed in fashions inspired by each of the 10 plagues of Egypt. Despite speaking very little, Vincent Price ...( read more)commands the screen in this overly-campy horror-comedy.

Abominable is right. This so called "horror" film would frighten an insecure six year old. Vincent Price's acting is pathetically bad, way too campy and over the top. He never was much of an actor. The film is stupid, cheap looking and badly dated.

Classic Vincent Price as a madman seeking revenge on the doctors who failed to save his wife's life. Memorable sets and colorful murder schemes.
