It has everything that I crave from a good film: great humor but also sad and serious. About being different in a tuff world but also about friendship and love.
Really worth to see on a gloomy rainy day!
Bernadette: "Now listen here, you mullet. Why don't you just light your tampon, and blow your box apart? Because it's the only bang you're ever gonna get, sweetheart!"
One of the best things about this is that it contradicts itself with all of its virtues. Offensive yet heartwarming, thought-provoking and gloomy yet the laughing never stops.
haha this movie is HILARIOUS!!! it is probably the best australian film i've ever seen!!! i totally recommend it!!! if you've never seen it before, trust me, you are missing out!!! the best scene is when they're performing "i will survive" - seriously go watch it NOW!!! =D
An endlessly entertaining movie. First off, the premise of the film's story was just great. Next off, the story's progression was just terrific and well executed. Lastly, I will go on a limb here and say that the performances of Wesley Snipes, Dennis Quaid, and John Luigizamo in this film was among the best of their entire careers.
Al comparar la película con el nivel que se exige hoy en día, la realización deja de desear, pero dentro de lo triste de la historia, es una historia con alguna gracia.
To be able to act as a drag queen and transsexual is a tough job, particularly as Hugo Weaving, Terence Stap & Guy Pearce perform these roles convincingly and emotionally. The film follows the journey of 2 drag queens and 1 transsexual through the Aussie desert to reach a club to perform. We take a look into the lives of these individuals & the situations they come across with others, each other and with themselves. Funny, empathetic & highly entertaining.
Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp (here stealing the show and all the best lines) have never been better. This film is full of heart, humour and imagination. More than once it threatens to delve into the hardships of doing what they do only to turn around and laugh it off. It would be easy to crticise a lacking in the plot but the sheer fun and pace of this film buries it. Fabulous darling!
Before Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving gained national recognition there was this lil' drag road movie...
and it was good.
Perhaps too much bitchy banter and drag queenliness for the average bloke, but a must for anyone with a sense of humor. Terence Stamp was pulled from a slump as the over-the hill worn out transgendered performer who decideds to join a fellow queen on aroad trip. Joining them is his spit-fire perfroming partner.
Bill Hunter has a nice sensitive turn as an machanic with a heart of gold.
So many eye popping moents and quotes, and agreat amount of heart. Not to mention the Oscar winning costumes.
This movie is just gorgeous..I love it.Hugh and Guy make the best drag Queens..Very funny and twinged with a little sadness. The costumes and songs are great.
Let's forget all the forward thinking this film's themes present for a minute and look at the film making. It starts feeling awkward around the time they steal the drinking contest out of Raiders of the Lost Arc and from there on film maker shifts gears like a kid with a learner's permit. It almost feels like the film was shot by a different director every couple of scenes or so. It makes some decent performances lose their footing amidst the clunky style.
The quintessential road-movie. Three drag queens travel across Australia in a bus called Priscilla. This really hits the nail on the head with its portrayal of provincial homophobia, but also warms the heart and cracks some wicked witty one-liners. A film that is funny, sad, entertaining and inspiring all at once.
This film deserves five stars for one among many reasons, the favourite one is the one liners, I mean, the retorts are bloody awesome, the way it was shot at and done was just so damn cool. The one at the pub where one of the characters answers back to some woman was the best. This is really a good movie from the heart and a beautiful movie about differences and how pointless it can all be.
One of the funniest flicks I've ever seen, Priscilla is a great ride through friendship, identity and life. Okay, I have a weird fascination with drag queens, but whatever, this one tops the list!
Oh My God... It's amazing. And the coments oh god - "How do you like your little boys, girls?" and "Don't "Darling", me, Darling. Look at you. You've got a face like a cat's arse." - This is now my ab fav movie...
