So far I've seen it once and didn't get some of the things.I am confused.
It wasn't so good to watch it again (in such a short time) but I think I'll have to. >.>
I would really like to know about other 's opinion.

Moody and neat little DTDVD flick from the director of Wrong Turn and starring Eliza Dushku. Dushku plays Megan Paige, a police inspector whom after not able to solve a case, has a breakdown and is diagnosed with schizophrenia. Two years later, she is a reference clerk at the dep...( read more)artment and a similar murder happens. She is brought onto as a consultant but can she hold onto to herself despite the medicine and help from her support group? This film is most interesting and alive when it is dealing with her illness and the way it affects her on the case. As a strict murder-mystery it's decent, but not amazing. Eliza Dushku gives the best performance of her career to date, and truly shines in the later half where she is fighting her demons head on. It's a great performance. The rest of the cast is solid as well.

I loved Eliza in this film, I thought it was a rather interesting film.

Eliza Dushku's performance is the best part in this film. The ending leaves some unanswered questions that would have added depth to the film.

Reasons you should watch this flick:
    - Elizabeth Dushku's performance is excellent.
    - Presence of multiple characters kept me guessing, which made the film very interesting.

Reasons you should avoid this flick:
    - Ending is highly unsatisfactory.

I liked it. of course it is one of the only movies now a days that was filmed/focused around my home town area. It leaves you hanging, cuz the murders are still unsolved which is pretty creepy, but i do love Eliza Dushku
  • September 24, 2009
Eliza is becoming a very good actress.
  • September 17, 2009
I liked it except for the ending. This being based on a real, unsolved killer I doubt it could have had the conclusion I was hoping for.
  • September 13, 2009
this was an ok movie, wasn't what I thought it was going to be. But I'd say Eliza Dushku did a good job in this movie. That's scary that you can have a physchotic break like that.

Honestly, I only watched this because of the Rochester connection. Liked it though. It's not really about the killer, it's about the detective and her struggle to remain sane.
  • August 9, 2009
I had never heard of this movie when I bought it. Definitely a great decision.
  • July 31, 2009
This movie was well acted. I did enjoy the general idea of the movie but I'm not sure about the whole crazy investigator idea.
  • June 29, 2009
It was so boring that I had slept through most parts of it. The funny thing is, even if I did, I was still able to tell who the killer was way before the movie ended.
  • June 26, 2009
Interesting film based loosely on an actual killer.
  • June 8, 2009
nice one i see dead people thats what she sayin they this is based on some real shiiii
  • June 1, 2009
Please, less obvious and more intense!!!!
  • May 27, 2009
This movie is less about the uncaught killer than a detective's descent into madness. Depressing and pointless.

Here is an interesting movie that centralizes on the case of a serial killer who rapes, and then murders young girls. Hooray, another movie vaguely inspired by true events. About a serial killer, no less.
Summer of Sam, Zodiac...why is it these tellings never get better? They're like dyslexic camp fire tales...

The Alphabet Killer was a very hard watch and not because of the content but because it was a really boring badly done movie. Being an Eliza Dushku fan i was excited to see it but after 30 mins i was ready to turn it off, i however watched to the end, what a bad decision it just...( read more) never gets going.

I uess this was OK! It was a good story (true?) Dushku is her usual bad actor, but did get to see a shot of her boobies so that's something! It's an ok movie if you have a couple hours to kill, but nothing more!
  • March 8, 2009
Eliza Dushku makes a nude appearance! kinda dumb ending
  • March 4, 2009
it was ok,,it based as real story I guess it's not!!! waits to find out who is the killer in the end n it was the ineresting part in film I guess lol!!!
  • February 26, 2009
muito chato! trata muito mais sobre como os assassinatos afetaram a detetive responsável pela investigação, do que sobre o caso em si...
  • February 24, 2009
This movie hits pretty close to home and it's a switch because people usually aren't too interested about what happens in central NY. Ha, oh well. I loved this movie mostly because Eliza Dushku played the main character but I just thought it was an overall great film.

"Mostly the job is to ask questions. The frustrating part, the part that drives you crazy, is that the people you really want to talk to, are dead."
It's definitely not the average serial killer movie but I liked it. It's a very low key drama about a female police officer (Eliza...( read more) Dushku) and her battle to find a killer and her battle against her own disease.
Eliza does a good job in the lead.

Strange and stupid! However good acting!

The Alphabet Killer is based on the true story of a bunch of unsolved child murders that took place in the 70's in Rochsster NY as a police detective played by Eliza Dushku who lets herself get way to close to the case and causes her o lose her job and her sanity in the process o...( read more)f trying to find this elusive killer, OK first off this doesnt have much to do with the real life case and its mostly used as a backdrop for this detective and showing her mental collapse trying to capture a killer so just make sure when or if you watch this its very *loose* wth the true story label. overall so so movie not horrible but only good for a one time watch.

  • January 31, 2009
This was a good movie and it is based on a true story. It is crazy how they have not found the killer.
  • January 30, 2009
didn't get passed the first scene. It started so slow.
  • January 28, 2009
Had too many of those shitty horror moments, but it was otherwise an entertaining flick helped by the presence of hot broad Eliza Dushku
  • January 26, 2009
It was alright, but the movie was somewhat standard plot line with a very common outcome. It was decently acted, but probably only worth watching the once. Check it out if predictable thrillers are your thing.
  • January 22, 2009
Was ok. wasn't bad wasn't superb. But at least you still ahve to figure out the mystery of who it is

The Alphabet Killer is based on a series of murders that occurred in Rochester, New York in the 1970s. Eliza Dushka plays detective Megan Paige, a women obsessed with a case where a ten year old girl was found brutally murdered in a small town in upstate New York. While having t...( read more)rouble with the case Megan, starts to have a nervous break down and even experiences the ghost of the young girl telling her not to give up on the case. Megan tries to end her own life, but instead ends up getting some help, and also loses her job on the police force. Two years later, Megan is all better and is still seeking therapy, and is doing good. But when the murders start up again, Megan now an advisor with the police force begins to focus all of her energy on the case again. With or without the help the police department she sets off on a quest to solve this crime once and for all. Dushku spends most of the movie being haunted by the spirit of the little girl who was most recently murdered, and it has a deep and powerful effect on her overall psyche, causing her to lose people she loves, attempt suicide, and even end up being commited at one point. Watching her character go through all of these different ranges of emotions, and have a brush with insanity is a very powerful viewing experience. The film "The Alphabet Killer" uses such a fiend as the foundation but the concentration of the movie is on a young woman with a history of schizophrenia. It is a taut psychological thriller that succeeds as a source of entertainment. The film does not pander to the usual bloodshed and shocking moments that many films in this genre do. It makes a few missteps along the way but in general holds together.

Decent flick, Eliza played the role very well, I was starting to worry about her lol.
  • January 18, 2009
Unlike the awesome "Wrong Turn", this Schmidt-Dushku collaboration offers little more than 100 minutes of bland cop drama/J-horror mash-up.
  • January 14, 2009
Like most true serial killer flicks, this has an aura of mystique and general interest to it. The fact that the story is based on true to life evens makes it quite compelling. However The Alphabet Killer was flat, poorly acted (Eliza Dushku) and badly written, unlike other flicks...( read more) such as Zodiac and The Black Dahlia. Eliza Duskus acting was stale and totally unbearable, and the supporting cast wasnt much better. Even though the inital premis of this movie was fasinating, it failed to deliver and wasnt exciting or dramatic along the way. I cant find much good to say about this one, it left me very unsatisifed, craving a true thrilling murder flick.
  • January 12, 2009
This movie didn't know if it wanted to be a supernatural thriller or a lame "based-on-true-story" dud. I thought that with Timothy Hutton and Cary Elwes acting in this it wouldn't be that bad. I was wrong.
  • January 10, 2009
The movie is one of those physcological thrillers that make you guess through the whole movie. I was blown away by ending, and to think it is based on a true story. Good watch.
  • January 10, 2009
Starts well and has an interesting protaganist, but it all gets clichéd and inane.
  • January 10, 2009
I really liked the premise of this movie, but started to resent the fact that nothing I saw was actually happening to Megan. I also hated being left hanging. I mean, true story or not, I needed a resolution!
  • January 10, 2009
For Fans of Thriller Horror. Not what you expect from the director of Wrong Turn!
