I haven't read the book or seen the original movie but I thought this was pretty enjoyable. Sure, it is unrealistic with giant plot holes (watching it twice and noticing all flaws must be horrible) but the story is interesting and mysterious which kept the tension up. Forgettable but still good for a TV movie.

Not terrible for a TV adaptation a little rough here and there and wildly divergent from the book and earlier movie. A bit of a political statement about how little you can trust people in power and their foresight because their lust for power and greed blind them, why else are they in power.

I really wanted to enjoy this, it looked so good. unfortunatly everything was just soo borring.
they tried too hard for suspence and action and they both fell flat.
The end scene of the first part where the woman loses control of her plane - thats what the half star is for, awesome. -

They really packed this with a lot of added material that was not in the original novel. A lot of new characters and sub-plots, most of which were pointless and handled very poorly. In the end, there were a lot of unanswered questions. But, it was very good quality for a TV movie, and is quite interesting before you realize the sub-plots are going nowhere. Very effective music.

MCT:June 10, 2008Andromeda Strain started out at 2.5 stars with a potential for 3, but by the end the whole plot got so riddled with wholes it made me physically ill to watch. The whole second half was a waste of my time. It reminded me a bit of Armageddon, and that's not a good thing. At least I saw it for free.

MCT:June 9, 2008This has to be by far one of my most favorite sraight-to-DVD realeases ever! Well worth the (about) 5 hours/2 part DVD! This is one mini series you want to check out! If you liked "The Stand" or "Outbrake" then you realy ar going to enjoy this flick! Even if you havent seen any of those, still a great ride!

remake of the original classic...this movie made for tv has more action and side stories to fill in the added length of time...produced by the Scott brothers, this version seems to branch off into various areas including government conspiracy which at times detracts from the story at hand..acting is decent...special efx an improvement over the original but overall the movie should have been kept at a shorter length focusing more on the underground lab...worth a watch especially if you are into bio-thrillers

Fairly decent for a TV movie. Probably two hours longer than it needed to be and a lot of unfinished/unexplained subplots. Even the actors seemed disintrested half the time. But some decent scifi stuff going on.

I expected sooo much more from this. Unfortuately the FX were completely boring and the movie seemed to drag. Aside from the fact it reminded me a lot of Sphere. SPOILER ALERT: I mean how many times can we use the story line of sending a message back to us from the future to try and save our species....really....geez.

Starts as a story that dangles around the idea of government conspiracies, but takes a turn into a full-blown sci-fi movie involving odd theories, time travel, extraterrestrials, etc. I thought it was very enjoyable and the special effects were good, considering this IS a TV movie. Every actor was well cast, but I still felt like the character's many conversations just HAD to be written by somebody else. Other than that, it's a great way to spend four hours.

Fairly well done renditoin of the original. They managed to keep most of the storyline intact. They did, however, manage to place some artistic license into it but without being detrimental to the story. All in all I would rate it an 8/10

This was intense for the first part. Never saw the original movie or read the book, but I do find the story very interesting and unique in its own way. Good acting. The story kept my attention, nicely done. At least that's what I said about part one...part two was just kind of stupid, it was like another one of those environmental messages and involved just weird ideas about wormholes and such...It's like, yes, we must be kind to the environment, but we're sick of hearing about all this, seriously. Make a good movie and you can leave it without your crazy messages. Besides that, the ending just didn't completely feel like everything was tied up, it just didn't flow in the end.
