One of the least successful Biblical epics of the 50's and 60's. For many stretches of time it's little more than John Huston self-indulgently reading scriptures in narration while rather uninspired action bores the viewer. The set pieces (the ark, the Tower of Babel, etc.) are incredible, however, and Peter O'Toole especially provides some terrific performing. Huston is better when he's on screen as Noah, although he tries too hard to inject humor into the character. George C. Scott seems woefully miscast as Abraham. Overall, I'd recommed seeing The Ten Commandments or Ben-Hur or even The Robe instead. Stick with the classics.

The synopsis says it's "mostly silly" and it sort of seemed that way to me too. They had the "Forbidden Fruit" look like an apple... ehh...

Beautifully photographed, meant to be shown on the gigantic Cinemascopic screen and with full sound, but so painfully dull, despite the smattering of fine performances by some of the great actors of the time, it makes the actual book of Genesis feel like an edge-of-your-seat thriller.
