    Mediocre Marx Brothers
  • January 5, 2009
A lesser known later day effort from the Marx Brothers, one that?s probably obscure for a reason. After about a decade of making these comedies, the Marx Brother?s shtick seems to have gotten a bit old at this point. The three were basically doing more of the same stuff they ha...( read more)d been for so long, and this one just seems like someone wasn?t really trying. The film spends a rather large portion of screen time on bad musical number, one of which features some rather offensive racial stereotypes. The film is redeemed to some extent by its final chase through a department store, its exactly the type of chaos that made the brothers famous even though some of the stunts look kind of fake (Harpo Marx was no Buster Keaton). I?d recommend the film to hardcore fans if only for that scene, but as a whole this was not the Brother?s finest hour.

Not among the best Marx Brothers films.

My favorite Marx Brothers film because it has the best of all they've ever done. The best film musical performance from them when Chico and Harpo play the piano, mixing skill and humor making it entertainment every time I watch it. Groucho's one liners with the amazing and never ...( read more)tiring Dumont (no matter how many fioms she was in with them and always playing the same character). And the amazing chase scene throughout the store through the end.
It could have used with out the end musical number with Martin, but at least they keep the secondary story of him and Grey out of the movie as much as possible without cutting it out all together.
It's my favorite and in my opinion one of their best, worth watching for their fans and fans of the old school comedies.

"Tell me, Wolfie dear, will we have a beautiful home?"
"Of course. You're not planning on moving, are you?"
"No, but, uh, I'm afraid after we're married awhile, a beautiful young girl will come along, and, uh, you'll forget all about me."
"Don't be silly. I'll write you twice a week."

It's a good movie. As usual Groucho was greater than his brothers.

I enjoyed this movie. The scene with Groucho selling beds is priceless!
