What a fucked up story. What crazy characters they thought up. It would seem whoever chose the actors for the roles did a damn good job.

Sounds like a Fargo knockoff, but deserves a chance nonetheless.

This movie reminded me of a sort of a lesser version of Fargo but even so I thought it was quite good. I especially loved Giovanni Ribisi's character. That man can act the hell out of anything!

Even though this is a serious story, Robin still has comical parts and Holly plays the excellent neurotic wife.

''Why is God, who is a loving God, capable of such things? When someone is taken from us at such a young age, we often ask ourselves why.''
    ''Bullshit.''

To remedy his financial problems, a travel agent has his eye on a frozen corpse, which just happens to be sought after by two hitmen.

    Robin Williams: Paul Barnell

    Holly Hunter: Margaret Barnell

The Big White is a funny black comedy which boasts a fine cast Just watched randomly on Sky Movies and it was a nice little film.

Robin Williams as Paul Bernell shows he can act again in spite of his comedic skills.
Holly Hunter as Margaret Barnell is hilarious with her condition.
Woody Harrelson is a fucking bad ass who shows what an actor can be, that you love to hate.

It's got similarities of Fargo which i saw a long time ago but can only remember bits.

I would say the music and songs aren't bad but nothing too memorable. Did like the song at the end though which pretty much sums up what transpired.

The ending is pretty solid and is typically positive. Was slightly sudden but it can be forgiven.

For a comedy from 2005 it's pretty good if you like your black dark humour.

sometimes funny sometimes boring, the lineal story is saved by the characters, specially Hollly Hunter (tourelli's!!) and Giovanni Ribisi, a reallly good comedy

Was a pretty quirky movie. Had a few good laughs in it. My only question after watching this is, why is Giovanni not in more stuff?

Robin Williams plays a 'dark' character you can actually laugh at. A fun movie for someone looking for an off-beat comedy. A bunch of big names fill out the cast.

Robin Williams gives a good performance. as does Giovonni Ribiani. The movie as a whole though has some problems. (sort of a B version of the much better Fargo) Overall still worth the view.

The Great White has such a great cast that include Robin Williams, Giovanni Ribisi and Holly Hunter. Williams plays a travel agent in Alaska, who needs money for his mentally ill wife (Hunter). He tries to cash in an insurance policy on his brother who has been missing for five years but told he can't because there is no body or he has to be missing for at least seven years. By chance, Williams finds a dead man in a dumpster he passes the body off as his brother's. The dead man is actually a man who was killed by the mob, and the 'dead' brother suddenly appears very much alive. Holly Hunter is so funny in this movie and steals every scene she is in.

total bizarre comedy. sort of in the league with fargo. but not that good. however a good cast and story, with added twists which make for good viewing..good to see on a cold and windy night with a pot of coffee or hot chocolate

A fantastic black comedy with hilarious performances by Robin Williams, Holly Hunter and Giovanni Ribisi, while also a pretty good thriller that does a good job at giving each character substance and making them relatable.

This movie kind of wishes it was Fargo with the exception of its central theme or message. While Fargo was excellently made, it lacked anything applicable or important in what it said. The Big White is similarly done and uses much of the same imagery (and almost the same plot), but has much more emotional depth and is a valuable commentary on love within relationships, and other stuff too. Robin Williams, Holly Hunter, Giovanni Ribisi, Alison Lohman, and Woody Harrelson all do an awesome job. Its only major flaw is the over goofiness of the "bad guys". You should watch it.

A very good movie, a black comedy you really can enjoy. I follows the same formula of the Cohen brothers film Fargo, but not with the same impact. Maybe the story and the plot aren't fully developed and has some holes on them, but all that is very well balanced with a great direction from Mark Mylod, the excellent photography and great landscapes and the wonderful cast in it. Robiln Williams is great as always, he is always reinventing himself in every new movie he make, Giovanni Ribisi's performance is also excellent, he is a young actor but is proving that he can manage difficult roles like this one, Woody Harrelson participation is kinda brief but its performance is very convincing, but the one that steals all the movie with its exceptional performance is Holly Hunter who is really hilarious, never believed that she could handle comedy in that way. Definitely a must see movie.

Filled with some very strange characters, this movie is a good one with almost everyone making it happily to the end, except poor Woody Harrelson.

Pull together a kick ass cast...a somewhat quirky, off-the-wall tale, a less than traditional location, and you've got guaranteed success, right? Um...well...success might not be the right word. The cast is what you'd expect...Holly Hunter gets another charmingly bizarre character (and, is it my imagination or is the woman aging in reverse?)...Robin Williams doesn't have a lot to work with here considering what he's capable of...Giovanni and Woody pull their weight. But, overall, the movie just doesn't all come together...or, if it does, it doesn't stay together the entire film. There are some definite chuckles...but, this isn't Fargo...or Raising Arizona...or even close to the same league. Entertaining enough...but, don't lose any sleep if it's only showing on some obscure cable channel late into the night.
