Blah, didn't care for it that much. It worked for me when I was 10 just because the thought of being pecked to death by a seagull is scary as hell, but when you get over that there just isn't that much of anything.
Proving once again that build-up is the key to suspense, Alfred Hitchcock successfully turned birds into some of the most terrifying villains in horror history.
GREAT film alfred had this way of showing a film where you think its just going to be some romantic comedy drama and flips it on its fucking head and scares the shit out of you this will always be in my thoughts his best!
yeha it is very good movie, i mean which Alfred movie wasn't good,
but i didn't liked end, could be done more interesting, but since i watched that movie about 15 years ago or less dunno i proly expected to see more action at maybe army comes with guns and kill all birds LOL
a classic Hitchcock movie. Back in the days it was scary but not to me. Storyline was good but the acting when someone killed by birds was humourous. Also special effects were kind of cheap.
I watched this on the fourth of July and I have to say that it freaked my mother and I out because there was this little bird outside the window that was pecking to get in and would move around to other windows in the house and it just made for great entertainment. It is truely a classic movie.
A Hitchcock classic. Set in a small american coastal town a flock of birds start 2 attack the residents. Although a daft idea it is pulled off perfectly by Hitchcock. After watching this 2 do tend 2 watch the birds in ur garden alittle differantly
This is Alfred Hitchcock's classic film about a town in Northern California where birds seem to be taking a turn for the worst, first nipping and then attacking humans in flocks. A scary film.
Alfred Hitchcock's Best film. What an amazing film. Tippi Hedren did wonderful in this very entertaining film. Alfred Hitchcock did phenomenal as always. There was not a bad film A. Hitchcock. The Birds is his finest film and it will be remebered as his best in my heart. I have a special place for this movie because this used to be my Grandmother's favorite movie. I loved it since she died. I realized its good things. And there is a lot. 5/5
It's surely not the suspense nor the chill that lack here.
for a 1963 release, there really is some gorish and frightening moments.
The screenplay, especially the pub scene with the expert old lady, was just perfect.
You just wait for the usual Hitchcock explanation, but the twist is that there isn't just any this time.
I know that this is supposed to be a scary movie but it makes me laugh everytime I see it...maybe its the cheesy special effects I don't know but anyways its still a pretty good movie.
This movie was whatever. I was shocked at a couple of scenes. it was nice to see Rod Taylor, but I wish the ending would have shown what exactly happened the ending killed it for me.
A movie that really delivers. Maybe some people can argue about the conclusion, but to me it is a powerful moment in cinema. The sounds that the birds make throughout the movie are downright chilling and will probably keep you up at night (like they kept me up at night)!
Creepy and provoking...suspenful but not frightening. being a B&W film conveys that even more since the birds are black crows; their stark little bodies are perched everywhere against the backdrop of a lighter shade, visually saying they are to be seen, here we are, we are looking at you: do not take us for granted.
Alfred Hitchcock sure out did himself with this one. I don't really go for older films, but this is definitely something to be seen. It is absolutely timeless and terrifying and probably will be for years to come.
An outstanding horror movie!!! The scene scares me most is the one-by-one agglomerate of the crows. Other bird attacks are undoubtedly shocking, but even there are no attacks, the atmosphere is still very tensional. I'm just anxious to know when will the birds gather again!
ok this movie scares me everytime i see it but only because my grandma lives by a wooded area that once a year gets all these birds in it and there are so many of them. and after seeing this movie i am aftaid to go outside while all the birds are there lol
Surprisingly good special effects for 1963. However, there was too much shit talking and not enough suspense. The end was too ambigious for my liking as well. Did the lovebirds cause the whole thing? Were those birds just going to stay there forever? It's also interesting to note how not having any background music at all in a movie can give the feeling that it's cheap and lacking something.
Wow.
