I thought it started off pretty good. As the blob got bigger though it looked really fake. The movie was still pretty good though.

A nice remake which features an entirely different story with lots of gore.
Awesome remake that surpasses the original in any way! exellent special effects and great performances with a script from Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont who did the script to "Elm Street 3" made a superior Sci-fi horror movie much like The Thing in 1982 or Cronenberg's The Fly.
Remakes usually suck...but this is one of the few exceptions. This one actually surpasses the original in every way. Great acting, FX, storyline, and direction make this one of the most fun horror movies around.

Not good... but fun to watch in a MST3K kind of way. The acting is bad. The story is simple and bad. But the fx are pretty good for the time. There are some shots that seem a little cheesy and blue screen-ish but for the most part I was pretty impressed.
Not a must see.
