Not a big deal! Just another film trying to make controversy about religion and Christ.. I dont know.. The plot didnt caught me.. I guess because of the fact that froma long long time ago many people was wonder that already in other films too.
Antonio Banderas is great, but he doesn't fit as a priest... the whole "Father Gutierrez" were just weird for me, I can just picture him as Zorro!
The movie was kind of good, and even though I have rated the movie just 1.5 stars, it doesn't mean that one shouldn't go and watch it, cuz it's still an enjoyable film.
Had to see this as Antonio Banderas is in the starring role as the priest that is sent o Jerusalem by the Vatican to investigate whether or not the skeleton that had been found in a tomb was in fact that of the 'unrisen' Christ. He is as sexy and engaging as ever. Fab eyes and oozes sexuality. But why give him roles like a priest. Underrated actor that could do much much more but strnge that he is never given the opportunity to blossom to his full potentail. Loved Mask of Zorro and Desperado. Cinematography is this film is outstanding and the film tries to tackle the thorny issues of religious and political issues that would take a movie three times the length to even try to untangle - like if Christ was 'unrisen' what does that do to the major faiths world wide? Good movie.
Antonio Banderas is a priest sent by the Vatican to verify the remains of a body thought to be that of Christ. Cue half-arsed discussions on theology, much hand wringing and some cobblers about arab terrorists who want to kidnap the bag of bones for reasons not explained. In turns dull and absurd, it's nothing but a dreary workmanlike thriller that's poorly directed and cheap looking. A waste of time.
A movie that is some controvertial... about of faith... just in the limit of the boring... but knows who to keep attached to the story... has a good base, but only that...
This movie is great! It's amazing how little it takes for one to start doubting one's religion and yet always feel what's right. Still, if one does not question, one never knows what to believe in...
the performances are good.. i agree but this movie is not a movie that you will enjoy watching.. not recommended and yes, Antonio looked so good.. hehhe...
