Gregory Peck does a beautifully campy job of portraying Josef Mengele who aims at bringing back Hitler and The Third Reich.

Peck is masterful, sinister, elegant! He assumes this ugly character so well, you dont see peck but Mengele!! What a great actor!

Its interesting to examine the juxtaposition of Sir Laurence Olivier's role here, as a Jewish nazi hunter, with his role in Marathon Man, as a German nazi war criminal. He's equally effective on both counts which speaks volumes for his versatility and talent as an actor.

As big a fan as I am of Gregory Peck, I had a lot of trouble buying into the premise that he was the sadistic & evil Dr. Josef Mengele. I tried, believe me, but I just couldn't do it. There's something inherently good about Peck that shines through, spoiling the effect. Maybe it's the eyes? Maybe it's the soul? Maybe it's just me?

The Boys from Brazil may not be great cinema but it's a benchmark piece for Olivier that his fans will definitely appreciate.

It's the late 1970's and the Nazi have one last idea for world domination. It's a good story with Peck and Mason as the lead Nazi's and Olivier as a Nazi hunter. Peck and Olivier are fantastic, but the creepy kid in this annoys the shit out of me. Not a great film, but worth watching.

Hard to see Peck playing this part BUT it shows how versatile an actor he is! Jeremy Black as a cloned young Adolf Hitler does a great job as a psycho youth.

Peck, who may have been acting over-the-top (but I'm not really sure), steals the show as Nazi mad scientist Josef Mengele, but I couldn't really buy Olivier as the hero Nazi-hunter. Very interesting until the climax, whcih was a bit too action-oriented to believe these two old farts could carry it out.

Ever wondered why the Human Genome project has such a hard time getting past government legislation and is constantly being hounded by pressure groups? Well, this film provides the answer. It is no secret in today's world that many former members of ...(read more)The Third Reich now live with private armies in South America but the sheer thought of it still sends a chill up one's spine. This aside, the concept of some one being able to clone a tyrant like Hitler is the stuff of stoytelling gold and it is very disconcerting to see so many boys with the same face and facial features in one place. The performances are also good through out, particularly Peck's role as the fanatical Dr. Josef Megele and the small though surprising instance where Police Academy's Steve Guttenburg finds himself flourishing in a non-comedy role.Olivier is his usually thespionic self but plays the role of elderly Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman so feebly that whilst he appears authentic in the majority of scenes, his character becomes unbelievable during moments of high action. Cinematically, however, there is little to distinguish this film from any other realist thriller of the 1970s with TV-style editing which often feels uncomfortable and excessive. Still, the power of The Boys from Brazil stems primarily from the story and that is the film's main draw. Heavily flawed but certainly worth watching.

A great film from start to finish, with a very climactic ending between Peck and the brilliant Olivier.

The video copy I saw of this was almost unwatchable but I caught a glimpse of a taut thriller through all the static. Post 1945 Naxi hunting is a very interesting subject usually, so if you agree then this is worth watching.

I decide to watch this very late one night, due to the casting of Peck and Olivier, and the film's ridicolous storyline. However it grew on me and by the end, i started to like, i though that Gregory Peck turned out a stunning performance, and that Olivier's was also of a high standard, however the ridicoulous storyline of cloning of Hitler and around 50 clones placed around the world really took away from the actors performances, I stillreally enjoyed it though.

    Creepy.
The simple idea gives me creeps, but the idea of a nazi scientist cloning Hitlers and letting them grow and develop around the globe's just scary. Aaahh.... *shivers*
The performaces by Peck and Olivier were quite impressive.

It's a very nicely done film, with many theories which can be discussed and debated after seeing the movie...

Pulpy nonsense that sees a plot to clone Hitler and create a fourth reich. A great cast flounder in the innate tackiness of it all; little subtlety is on view, Gregory Peck in particular is bizarrely cast against type as a cold and cruel nazi, and never convinces. Add to this the fact that a young boy, Hilter clone or not, is demonized to almost Omen-like supernatural levels and it all looks a bit silly. Only the heavyweight presence of the likes of Mason, Olivier and Peck makes it worth a look.

Enjoable thriller with one of the most startling dog-attack scenes on film. Gregory Peck is superb against-type as a crazed nazi war criminal.

A good tale for those who love their conspiracy theories (I know I do). Is it real or just fiction? The inquisative part of me ponders that! It works delightfully well and despite being almost 30 years old hasn't aged to badly at all. Yes it could be considered somewhat ludicrous but so what. Perhaps its a little simplistic and begs the question does it warrent a remake? perhaps it does. If like me you love a good conspiracy and need to know the answer to every little mystery in the world then I think this is worth watching. I don't think its unfair to say that its probably better than half the tripe that is trundled out today. Having left itself open to a sequel, I wonder if one was ever done and if not, why? There are unanswered questions, and for gods sake if I have said it once I'll say it a thousand times, I do hate unanswered questions.

PS: gratuatous tats in this movie did not in any way help it gain half a star!

An interesting concept (ex-Nazis cloning Hitler to establish the Fourth Reich) that is carred brilliantly by Gregory Peck and Lawrence Olivier, two great actors enjoying a late renaissance in their careers.
