Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"It's absorbing, often stomach-turning stuff, but, in the interests of filling feature length, the filmmakers stretch things out too much."
‑ David Noh, Film Journal International
"The strength of The Brandon Teena Story is that it briefly lets us hear Brandon speak for himself."
‑ Rob Gonsalves,

‑ Alex Sandell, Juicy Cerebellum
