It's no Riki-Oh or The Seventh Curse, though there are some parts that I loved including an insane kung fu battle between a dog and the cat. The special effects were gr8 and Philip Kwok gives a fine performance.

More sci-fi than gory horror, I was pleasantly surprised to find this movie as I've recently been disappointed in several asian horror movies I keep hearing about. This one, being from Hong Kong, had more of a typical B-movie feel to it, rather than typical Japanese ghost storie...( read more)s with a social message.
Here you have strange people who are trying to destroy an evil force that is mutilating people in its way. The cat they're with turns out to be much more than just a housecat, and is needed to potentially save this world.
The gore is really great, top-notch old school effects. The DVD suffers from a bad english translation in some parts...but not too debilitating. Of course, there's the famous (in scifi and horror circles) fight scene between the dog and cat. I have NEVER seen such choreography for a scene that involves real animals, inter-spliced with puppets and prosthetics. It was worth the rental alone.
