I don't even want to get into Paul's Oscar win for this movie. Paul was great and deserving but the movie was bleh.....
  • March 5, 2007
Decent but unsurprisingly, inferior sequel to The Hustler. The fact that Paul Newman acts Tom Cruise off the screen will also fail to induce coronaries.
  • February 28, 2007
It was very satisfying to me for Newman's character to beat the devil. Satisfying sequel to The Hustler.
  • February 25, 2007

made me want to shoot pool when I was in high school
  • February 17, 2007
All in all the film is pretty good. A story that could very well happen and all the elements of telling a story come through in the end.
  • February 17, 2007
Here, at least, Cruise was still the apprentice and Newman the big Kahuna. Entertaining.

  • February 3, 2007
Pretty decent movie as they do play quite a bit of pool and Tom Cruise is a good actor so that doesn't hurt either.

  • January 26, 2007
The film of the 80s of Scorsese about a player of swimming pool of oldtime which helps the train a new young person but decides later than it can have more run one on the left in him.
  • January 24, 2007
Paul Newman at his bitter best, though this should have been the clear-cut sign that Cruise was Crooze.
  • January 20, 2007
Great directing by Scorsese. Paul Newman and Tom Cruise are good too.
  • January 18, 2007
    Newman is awesome here.
  • January 16, 2007
Good story line, kind of a continuation of "Fast Eddy"
  • January 14, 2007
Unfortunately, in my mind this movie shoul never have been made. Even in the hands of a great director such as Scorsese and with original star Paul Newman my only thought was leave the classic alone.

  • January 2, 2007
I really liked this, it's entertaining and Newman puts in a good performance. It does lack the depth of a lot of Scorcese's films and I don't think it was the most faithful sequel to The Hustler in terms of style though.

The sequel of The Hustler is really exciting with the pool games and Paul Newman returns as old Eddie after 25 years.

Great fun. One of Scorsese's best, in my opinion. Newman and Cruise are fantastic together and the whole thing is considerably more enjoyable than The Hustler.

i just watched this tonight. i haven't seen this in full in probably over 10 years. After 20 years, this movie still is excellent cinema. Newman is classic and Cruise play the young bastard to a T. This flick is a can't miss. I have to dig out my dvd of the Hustler soon - it...( read more)s been awhile as well. Just remember that "money won is twice as sweet as money earned" Offhand: this is probably the best film of 1986. SEE IT if you haven't already!!

  • November 18, 2006
all abt time and the money and better watch the man shooting ahead of you and what the man behind you can do
  • November 14, 2006
Its difficult to make a sequel to a perfect movie, especially 25 years later. Do the enormous combined talents of Scorsese, Newman, and Cruise fail to live up to potentia? Its difficult to be sure, but the fact is this is still a very good movie. Scorsese's direction is stylish b...( read more)ut restrained, while Newman and Cruise share great chemistry. Newman captures the evolution of Falson's character perfectly and got the Oscar he deserved for at least a half a dozen other movies. It's rare to see a sequal such as this so long after the original, and while it really doesn't compare it should still be appreciated for the quality character study that it is.
