  • January 2, 2007
I really liked this, it's entertaining and Newman puts in a good performance. It does lack the depth of a lot of Scorcese's films and I don't think it was the most faithful sequel to The Hustler in terms of style though.

The sequel of The Hustler is really exciting with the pool games and Paul Newman returns as old Eddie after 25 years.

I'd like to see this film!!
  • November 26, 2006
Great fun. One of Scorsese's best, in my opinion. Newman and Cruise are fantastic together and the whole thing is considerably more enjoyable than The Hustler.
  • November 25, 2006
Close to great but Cruise was a bad casting choice. Newman is excellent. " 500 hundred a rack"

i just watched this tonight. i haven't seen this in full in probably over 10 years. After 20 years, this movie still is excellent cinema. Newman is classic and Cruise play the young bastard to a T. This flick is a can't miss. I have to dig out my dvd of the Hustler soon - it...( read more)s been awhile as well. Just remember that "money won is twice as sweet as money earned" Offhand: this is probably the best film of 1986. SEE IT if you haven't already!!

good, ends a bit abruptly for me though
  • November 18, 2006
all abt time and the money and better watch the man shooting ahead of you and what the man behind you can do
  • November 14, 2006
Its difficult to make a sequel to a perfect movie, especially 25 years later. Do the enormous combined talents of Scorsese, Newman, and Cruise fail to live up to potentia? Its difficult to be sure, but the fact is this is still a very good movie. Scorsese's direction is stylish b...( read more)ut restrained, while Newman and Cruise share great chemistry. Newman captures the evolution of Falson's character perfectly and got the Oscar he deserved for at least a half a dozen other movies. It's rare to see a sequal such as this so long after the original, and while it really doesn't compare it should still be appreciated for the quality character study that it is.

I love Martin Scorsese films but this one really failed to please me. It was pretty entertaining and all but it really doesn't make out to be a good movie. All throughout the movie i kept thinking that Johnny Depp would have fit the role of Vincent better. I really hated the endi...( read more)ng and let me say that this is one of the worse endings i have seen in a movie. I thought it was going to be another good Tom Cruise movie but i really got my hopes up.

Paul Newman is fantastic in his classic role frome The Hustler. One of his performances. A superb flick. Scorsese delivers another well crafted film. Brilliantly acted, teriffcially written and wonderfully shot.
  • August 29, 2006
one of the greatest sequels is amazing.
  • August 24, 2006
One of Scorsese's lighter films, The Color of Money is very entertaining and very well-acted.
  • August 22, 2006
    What a great sequel.
  • August 18, 2006
This has got to be Martin Scorcese's most tragically overlooked film.
  • August 10, 2006
Great movie! Pool IS a sport!
  • August 9, 2006
    I love this film.

Many think this is a film about Tom Cruise's character but the reality is, this is about Fast Eddie Felson. Everything that happens is about Eddie going back to his youth and getting back what he lost and what he was forced to give up. In a way, he is doing wha...( read more)t was done to him but in a good way. He wants to be better. You could argue this is because he owes it to Sarah but that might be reading inot it too much, especially seeing as he has a new flame in the film anyway.

    Still back to the filn.
The three main characters are all nicely played, with Eddie being more or less the same as before, Cocky, confident, knowing and full of pride in what he does. Vince is young, brash and a showboat. Both are very similar but different in the parts that matter. Eddie knows what he is doing. Vince is just winging it; typical hollywood father/son stuff.

Like the hustler, this is clearly a character film and the pool only serves as a tool to describe and act as a metaphor for how the people relate to each other and when it does feature in a central role, it still only serves to show how they are feeling, particularly when Eddie Picks up the cue.

Ends a bit abruptly though and doesn't really feel complete. I know that I personally, would've liked to have seen more of Fast Eddie Felson after he says the last line of the film:
    "I'm back"

    Really cool movie. Tom Cruise plays a great flake and Newman is pretty darn awesome... I'm gonna have to see the Hustler now though ^^;;
