I saw this at the Cleveland Cinematheque with another Melies short and a Buster Keaton comedy. It was advertised in relation to the movie Hugo coming out, but the quality of this one was disappointing as well. As a historical document I appreciate it. As a very early example of Melies' work I appreciate it. The quality of the film is sadly full of blemishes and it is over so quickly. A magician's stage trick is just not as impressive on film when you know that a simple cut makes the effect so easy.
