A classic, Hackman is great as Harry Caul and Coppola directs beautifully as always. A real 70's thriller I find hard to tire of.

This is a hard film to rate, it feels like the type of film which will be highly rated among big film buffs and yet, I found it painful to endure until about 15 minutes from the end, when in complete contrast the film becomes really enjoyable.

The Conversation is one of those suspense films that does something rather rare. You see it once and then after that you want to see it a second time. In all honestly I have seen this film about 3 times this weekend and every time I always find something new that just adds to thi...( read more)s masterpiece. Everything from Coppola's direction to what is quite simply Gene Hackman's best work to the twist that will haunt you long after the experience makes this a must see. Why can't Francis Ford Coppola make movies like this one anymore?

One of the most amazingly photographed films I've ever seen. It's no surprise to learn that Coppola was thinking about Antonioni when he made this movie. For me this movie confirms that in the 70s Coppola was probably the best filmmaker anywhere.

So brilliantly shot & conceived, with more shocks than I remembered. Cast is brilliant. Yet, it still doesn't hit me as hard as Coppola's other 1970s films. Maybe it's just the deliberate pace (though I wouldn't change a frame).

Slowly paced but very engrossing film. Well directed by Francis Ford Coppola, great performance by Gene Hackman. Very interesting story, good job by the supporting cast. Good character development.
