Plot: September of 1944, a few days before Finland withdraws from the Second World War: a chained-to-a-rock Finnish sniper-kamikadze named Veikko manages to set himself free; and Ivan, a captain in the Sovi...( read more read more... )et Army, arrested by the Front Secret Police 'Smersh,' has a narrow escape. They are soldiers of the two enemy armies. A Lapp woman named Anni gives shelter to both of them in the tiny hut on her backwoods farm. For Anni they are not enemies; just men. Unable to speak each other's language, the two men begin to fall in love with the woman, and are forced to let only their body language speak for them.

    Foreign, Russian/Finnish/Lapp. This is a good movie and it was done very well. It's about 2 men and 1 lady coming together in the latter stages of WWII (1944). 1 man speaks Finnish (the Nazi), 1 man speaks Russian (a Russian soldier) and 1 lady speaks Lapp (she's a native Lapplander) and none can understand each other, yet they seem to communicate and try to get along. It's a very good movie and I definitely recommend it!

    Really funny! Three people who cannot understand each other trying to communicate, and for the most part failing!!

    I experienced this movie as pretty still and boring. In retrospect, my impressions were altered, especially after seeing the ending and what I've read about the movie. But I still don't know if I liked it or not...

    Amazing movie. Can three characters who speak three different languages (Russian, Finnish, Lapp) trying to communicate to each other get more interesting?
