Being the Joan Crawford detractor that I am it would be easy for me to point out that this film was initially intended to feature a 19 year old actress, and that the part was rewritten at Miss Crawford's insistence. It would also be easy to highlight the lack of big name co-star...( read more)

Intriguing Joan Crawford flick about a low-class woman rising to wealth by way of wits, and looks regardless of the cost. Face paced thriller where there's never a dull moment.
