Bit of a rip off really. A Welsh version of the Ring/ Dark Water. That said, the visuals and Maria Bello make it worth a watch. The child is annoying and quite frankly this has got to be Sean Bean's easiest job ever! Nothing special.

A mysterious young girl who supposedly died 50 years previously appears at the same time another is feared drowned and her mother is convinced she is somehow responsible. I had never heard of this film before, and with stars Maria Bello and Sean Bean who, without wishing to appea...( read more)

The Dark wasn't as creepy as I was hoping/expecting it to be. Well put together and the twist at the end was a pretty good refreshment to the progress of the rest of the movie, making you think "OH RIGHT! one alive for one dead!". All in all decent, but could have played with t...( read more)

"What Dreams May Come" meets "Dark Water". This got good in the last half hour but it wasn't enough. Loved the backdrop but I confess I finished this only because of the trashily sexy Maria Bello. This movie deserves a remake in the hands of an art director. Better dialogue too.

The biggest problem with this film was that it was very dark. It wasn't overly scary or dark in subject matter considering it was set half in the world of Welsh mythology and ghosties but it was filmed very darkly so it was hard to make a lot of it out. A second problem is that i...( read more)

I thought it was quite good, I like the story but it wasn't scary at all.

An awful horror movie. The plot is overly confusing, the acting is horrible and it just doesn't seem to work. A lot of Maria Bello running around, screaming and looking confused, while a few sheep jump off cliffs. A perfect lesson in how not to make a film.

I assume anybody who gave this 2+ stars hasn't seen the other movies in this specific genre. (Ie The Ring, Dark Water, The Grudge, The 6th Sense etc.) I can appreciate that it made an attempt to be scary, but it didn't make an attempt to be different.

Perhaps the story had some potential but there's nothing really special about this movie.

June 26, 2007The Dark was a great movie, I found it interesting not scary but certainly scary if it was to happen. The movie had great actors that did their parts well. The main story with the welsh mythology and so, was really interesting. I really loved the movie though didn't understand the ending or maybe your not suppose to?. You can take the movie afew different ways by the time it ends. Overall, I liked it.
