OK ...BUT WHY CALL IT THE DEER HUNTER..
i thought this would be awesome like robert de niro, ass kicking in nam and going crazy or something. but no, it was robert de niro, pennsylvania bum. boring as fuck waste of three hours.
My first thought about this story, was that it was going to be really draggy and straining to follow. Because in my experience, that's normally the case when a movie is as long and old as this one. Luckily, however, I couldn't have been more wrong in my presumptions. Not a single...( read more)
The film gives a view into how war affects people. It takes an hour to get into the war, but gives you plenty of background about the characters and how they change after the war. De Niro, Walken and Streep are fantastic.
An amazing movie about the affect of war, friendship, love, lust and let-downs. The actors are better than ever before, especially De Niro, Streep and Walken are memorable.
Was inspired to watch it followed by the great reviews I read. Unfortunately, I was hardly impressed even a bit by it. The lengthiness of the movie only added to my agony. Wish I wouldn't have stumbled upon this one!!!
Cristopher Walken best thing about this movie. maybe if 20 mins shorter would have been a great film.
This film is a war movie, but with barely any war in it. It mainly uses war as a mid-section to show the contrast of before and after the Vietnam war experience. Very happy small town people's lives change drastically. Try not to get depressed after this film, i dare you
Though unnecessary long for my taste, I have to admit this is a very good movie.
Christopher Walken is marvellous here! That mad face of his works perfectly in order to show not only the experience of living a war from the inside, but also the feelings left on a soldier's head a...( read more)
Terrific Vietnam war film which follows the similar/different paths of three friends.... Outstanding performances all around. A must see!
Kinda forgot about this movie, i think i need to re-watch it because all i remember is the russian roulette scene.
Damn good movie. Fuck you christpher walken! Why'd you have to kill yourself you dumb fuck!!!!
I don't know why I waited so long to see this. Definitely one of the best movie experiences I've had. Story, dialogues, cinematography, cast, acting, music - perfect. Engaging, gripping, suspenseful and heart-breaking. I'm going to watch this masterpiece many times, and I will ne...( read more)
This is another classic and definitely a favorite of mine
This film made me discover De Niro and Chistopher Walken- 2 of my favorites nowdays also
One of the most widely aclaimed movies of all time. Three Pennsylvanian steel workers are sent out fight in the Vietnam war. Courage, Love, and Heroism greatly displayed in this great film.
I've already mentioned how annoying are to me war movies. In this case, The almost 3 hour drama The Deer Hunter was again a happy exception. Although it deals with the horror of the war and its secuels, the story dives much more into the life before and after the war instad of th...( read more)
(J) This film is one of the greatest movies of all time. All human emotions are evoked watching this movies. Fuckin' A!
a powerful film. incredibly unique in the way that the stages of the film unfold. from the wedding, to the hunting, to the war, to the welcome home, and finally to the recovery of a lost friend. a bit overlong at times, but mostly phenomenal with great performances that help t...( read more)
Melodramatic, corny and dated. Just some scenes stand out, and Walken's performance.
7/10
Thematically deep and expertly shot. The Deer Hunter examines the effects the Vietnam War has on the people from a small American town and how their lives are forever changed.
Great war movie. Wonderfully written and directed, with an all-star cast putting in career defining performances. The war images are realistic and at times disturbing. But they make for a memorable experience, that you'll want to see it again and again.
One of the greatest war films of all time. By far the most heartbreaking film yet made about the Vietnam War's effects. A splendid flick that portrays how devastating & tragic the repercussions of war could be. An all-time memorable movie. Amazing scores by Robert De Niro, Christ...( read more)
This film is brilliant and I love Christopher Walken in it. However when they are in Vietnam I find it so difficult to watch
