The Displaced Person
Adapted for television from the Flannery O'Connor story of the same name, The Displaced Person stars Irene Worth as the widowed owner of Southern farm. Overcoming her inbred prejudices, Ms. Worth hires a Polish refugee as a farm hand. While his eagerness to work quickly ingratiates the new hand with his employer, he arouses the ire of a less industrious worker and his equally shiftless wife. John Houseman appears in the small role of a priest. The Displaced Person was first telecast April 12, 1977, on PBS' American Short Story anthology.
