good movie! It wasn't that great with acting by Simpson. She great looks but her acting was not impressive. Also storyline well done.
I'm not much for Bubblegum sensations like Jessica Simpson but she made those shorts look crazy hot!
I enjoyed the Tv show. But this movie was not as good as I was hoping it to be. A disappointing movie as it was lacking more of a story than anything.
Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville is hilarious in this one. Love them together. They should definitely do something else together!
I loved the original tv show and cast. I have no intention of seeing this movie for how badly the previews massacered the original.
This is one of those movies you watch for lack of a better idea. Some good laughs in this but not much more. Really hated Jessica Simpson's bimbo character. Johnny and Seann are cute.
I dislike Jessica Simpson. I may have given it a chance if they replaced Daisy Duke with someone else.
CUTE CAST...CLASSIC SHOW TO SCREEN ....SOME OF THE CAST WASN'T TRUE TO THE SHOW BUT THEY DID AN AWESOME ADAPTATION
Resembling the tv show as much as a lump of coal resembles Christmas toys, The Dukes of Hazzard movie feels like what would happen if a bunch of jokers watched ten minutes of an episode, then decided that was all they needed to see to go and make a film version. It's as if they based it on the assumption that the show was nothing but obnoxious hillbilllies with cars, and, sure, maybe The Dukes don't deserve anything approaching venerability, but come on -- is it too much to ask that some people do some homework? Because the movie isn't anything more than a bunch of redneck stereotypes played for laughs -- it's what people living in southern California think is funny about the stereotypical southern country that exists in their heads. All the characters are stripped of whatever made them people in the show, then are instead made the embodiments of yokel stock characters. And the whole thing takes place in that non-commital zone between playing it straight and playing it as a farce, which causes it to fail in both ways. Bo and Luke Duke were better off when they were replaced by two other unknown cousins for a season than they are being played by Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville, who use the roles to thinly layer a southern hick schtick over their usual goofball personas. When they were John Schneider and Tom Wopat, the cousins were charming and would actually use their heads to figure things out. They could legitimately be sung as "the good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm"; as Scott and Knoxville, they're just, well, jackasses.
"Bo Duke" (Seann William Scott) and his cousin "Luke" (Johnny Knoxville) are two of "Hazzard County's" well liked "Duke" clan. But they are not as well liked by the crooked county commissioner "Boss Jefferson Davis 'JD' Hogg" (Burt Reynolds) and county sheriff "Roscoe P. Coltrane" (MC Gainey).
While "Hazzard County" is gearing up for a huge car race, headlined by local favorites "Bo" and "Billy Picket" (James Roday), "Boss Hogg" is scheming to turn "Hazzard County" into a huge strip mine. And the first thing he does to get his plans rolling is to evict the Dukes from their family farm, headed by the joke-cracking moonshiner "Uncle Jesse Duke" (Country music legend Willie Nelson).
The plot of the movie has the feel of the classic TV series, which critics hated, but the fans loved for years. In fact, much of the plot and characters, most of which were miscast, has the feel of the TV series.
However, one of the biggest problems to this movie is that the writer tried to make it different from the TV series. Knoxville and Scott have chemistry that is almost as good as Tom Wopat (TV's "Luke Duke) and John Schnider (TV's "Bo Duke"), but they, like the rest of the cast, are missing something the TV cast had. Another problem with the characters is that many of them are written dramatically different from their TV counterparts -- especially "Roscoe," "Uncle Jesse" and "Boss Hogg".
The majority of the supporting cast is downright lousy. There is little development in them, or they are written totally different from the TV versions. Another problem with the supporting cast is that the actors are totally wrong for the characters.
Two main characters that are totally wrong are "Roscoe" and "Boss Hogg". In the TV series, they were bumbling goofs. Reynolds plays "Boss Hogg" as a devious, money-hungry elected official who would steal candy from a baby, but he lacks the comedic characteristics the late Sorell Brooke brought to the same character on TV. Gainey also plays "Roscoe" wrong, and just not all that good in the role. Nelson, who does a fair cover of the classic TV theme song at the end of the movie that misses the upbeat tempo of the original tune, also fails at bringing "Uncle Jesse" to the silver screen.
Pop singer Jessica Simpson, who is one of the few authentic southerners in this film, is pretty weak in bringing "Daisy Duke" to the big screen. However, she does pretty much nail the charm Cathrine Bach brought to the same character on TV. For the most part, Simpson is eye candy.
Lynda Carter, best known for her role as "Wonder Woman" on television, plays the "Duke" family friend "Pauline." I don't recall any character like "Pauline" in the television series, but she is written like the rest of the characters as if she is suppose to be known to the audience. There is no development in this character at all from what I can see.
One drastic difference is the movie's soundtrack. It's typical movie music, and works well. However, the TV series had an instrumental country soundtrack in every episode. It would have been a more accurate interpretation if the soundtrack had an instrumental soundtrack.
Like in every episode of the original television series, the "General Lee," which looks very different when it makes its first big screen appearance due to the famed "01" on the door is slightly different than what fans are use to seeing, can move on the streets and back roads of "Hazzard County". The only problem with the movie "General Lee" is that "Bo's" love for it is played way too obsessive in an attempt for some comedy which falls flat.
"Hazzard" also just doesn't feel right. The TV version had buildings that were very close together with a nice looking town center. The movie version is sparce and just doesn't look good.
For those who remember the original television series which this movie is based on, be thankful it's on CMT and on DVD because this movie is not The Dukes of Hazzard. However, the storyline is one of the few things that has the feel of the TV series.
This is not one I would add to my collection unless all the other movies I want are sold out.
The Duke cousins, Bo Duke (Seann William Scott) & Luke Duke (Johnny Knoxville) get caught by delivering their Uncle Jesse's moonshine in their bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger (nicknamed The General Lee) in Hazzard County, Georgia to delivered to to a client to protect their cousin Daisy's (Jessica Simpson) honor. Daisy discovers Boss Hogg is bribing the best racing driver, Billy Prickett (James Roday) is from Hazzard. Daisy walks into Enos's office in a bikini take advantage his attraction to Daisy when Enos tells Daisy they're at the farm holding Uncle Jesse hostage.
It was cute, but stupid. But it's meant to be stupid, so, it's alright. It's about 2 moonshining cousins that try to stop a greedy land-grabber and the events that take place. It's alright and I guess I'd recommend it, if you want to watch something stupid. Not really my choice, but it was alright.
This is a fun movie (Simpson is no Catherin Bach) If they would have used more of the original cast it would have been better.
It was watchable but not nearly as good as the original Dukes of Hazzard. I really wish that Simpson could act instead of just being a slut.
I have the unrated version but it is an awesome movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Dukes of Hazzard was a great movie, I even thought it was better than the TV show. It had lots of well done stunts that looked really sweet on the big screen and all the actors did a great job with this movie.
This movie was a shamefull waste of film I bet Waylon is still spinning in his grave It's not good enough to be called a rip off
based on the tv series the dukes of hazzard(1979-1985)became a remake in big-screen.
director jay chandrasekhar who his work as "super troopers" and "club dread" and later then "beerfest".
"jackass" star johnny knoxville and seann william scott(of "the rundown") as the cousin luke and bo dukes.
singer jessica simpsons made her film debut as daisy dukes.
cool wild ride with the general lee(the car).
watch for jay chandrasekhar cameo(it remined me of "super troopers" who been starring and director)
so follow presequel as "dukes of hazzard: the beginning"
wow what a good comedy movie...i have never ever seen the tv show of this....this is a good comedy movie because theres loads of good actors/actressess throughout the movie...jessica simpson is beautiful, smart sexxxi as always in this movie..(her little sister ashley simpson is married/engaged to fallout boy's bass player pete wentez..fallout boy are 1 of my favourite bands)...the whole cast of characters throughout this movie are really funny throughout the movie...the car is really nice (even though i know nothing about cars)..the director Jay Chandrasekhar has done some good movies because hes done club dread nd super troopers which are both brilliantly funny movies 2 see because i like him as the broken lizard comedy troupe comedy team...the director of this Action & Adventure, Comedy movie done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie
First time i saw this movie i enjoyed it. Then i spent a week watching the Dukes Of Hazzard TV series on DVD and went back to this and i realised how much better the show really was. If this movie was made just like the show it would have been better received.
If you are looking for something just like the Dukes TV series, skip this and go to the prequel movie instead.
Stars Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Jessica Simpson, Burt Reynolds and Willie Nelson.
seann william scott's[i love his name] was messed up character. the way he's so into his car cracks me up. he was totally hot with it. although there were disturbing scenes like the one at the end where he'd rather make out with his car than the girl who's practically all over him! and his (wth) face was priceless. i suppose the boys would watch this cos of Jessica Simpson's silly scenes where she keeps 'shaking her ass ass somebody to get her cousins out of trouble'. She's hot, yeah but WOW, she can't act. Stunts were awesome.

wats up hay guys did u know that jess and everyone else probaly don't even look at this:(
i love the Dukes of Hazzard even the tv shows i started watching them when i was a kid thanks for keeping it going.
The real Dukes would have never beat the hell out of the general like that. I only like the general in the movie the story sucked and the acting sucked even more and did they have to bash the general on the highway the way they did. Todays people are so pc and thin skinned that it's really sad oh boo hoo so there is a southern flag on top get over it.
Amen to the following comment.....
rayman0071 This was a disgrace to the original series and I know that two of the original stars of that show (John Schneider and Tom Wopat)are pissed off and madder than hell after what the producers did. I don't blame them one bit.
Not to mention Catherine Bach, who even madder than they are. Nor for that manner James Best.
I know Denver Pyle(Uncle Jesse)and Sorrell Brooke(Boss Hogg)are really rolling in their graves now because of this and should be. One of the worst films of 2005.
I got to meet Sorrel Brooke in 1986 when he was at a car show with the General Lee. and He was a awesome man, awesome actor and he loved his character, Boss.
And PLease.. Burt reynolds is NO Boss Hogg. He was tall and Skinny and there is no comparison.
I suppose for the younger generation that wasn't raised on the series.... its a entertaining movie. But for the true fans of the originals its a disgrace.
id say if u grew up watchin this back in the day ud think the new one isnt good but if u like sean william scott and johnny knoxville like i do, u find it funny n good
n question...in this movie...who does the narrarators voice...dnt repost answer in comment write to my page...k thanx
i love the dukes of hazzard series, so was disappointed with this film. i agree with the 2 previous comments, though i didn't mind willie nelson. and u gotta love general lee!
The movie was absoutly nothing like the show..the only thing that stayed the same was the names and the car...its a good movie but when you compare it to the show way off!!
