    Ohhhhhhhhhh this is SUCH a wonderful old Romance. This has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it when I was a little girl. A lovely old story of seeing each other through our hearts instead of eyes.

    Quite a lovely tale of discovered love. The question of true beauty in the eye of the beholder is wonderfully poetic in this interpretation. THough, Dorothy is not nearly as homely as everyone in the film exaggerates that she is. But the allusion to a beauty and the beast motid i...( read more)s subtle and effective. Performances are natural and true to form of the 1940's, meaning full of charm and wroght with emotion. A lovely story indeed, bittersweet and a tale which still leaves that magical door wide open to possibilites.
