The Enforcer Reviews and Ratings

It really is a sort of letdown from the first two, but I think it's mainly due to the fact that the plot was a little too silly. Clint Eastwood really makes the movie, so if you're invested with his character it's still fun. I think that most of the subplots in the film actually ...( read more)would've made for better stories, but it was interesting to see nonetheless.

Another great entry in the Dirty Harry franchise has Callahan being paired up with a female policewoman. More of the same.

3rd Dirty Harry film, this one surrounds a bunch of renegade extremists who capture lots weapons and murder Harry's partner forcing him to have a female partner in compliance with the city's pro female initiative!
  • November 20, 2009
In my opinion, the best Dirty Harry movie.
  • November 10, 2009
the first dirty harry film where the bad guys don't really cut the mustard. it plays more like a routine actioner than anything tense or too re-watchable, but makes up for it with the most interesting sidekick yet in tyne daly

    Clint Eastwood is awesome!!
  • October 11, 2009
Whilst this is nowhere near as good as Dirty Harry, it's still a great little thriller.

Clint is awesome as per usual. He doesn't actually have to do or say a great deal, but his physcial presence alone is all that is required. It's pretty rare to find an actor that can do thi...( read more)s, but I feel that Clint is one of them.

The story itself is ok, following Harry as he attempts to track down a bunch of hippie terrorists. It's quite fun, but he shares no connection with this group at all. In Dirty Harry, he faces off against Andy Robinson's bad guy on numerous occasions, in this film its all done at a distance which is a shame.

Overall, this is nothing spectacular, but its competently made and played and lets face it, any flick with Clint playing Harry deserves an audiience.

I used to have such a crush on Tyne Daly. I remember seeing this on TV in the 80's and crying at the end. 'Why did he have to shoot Lacey?', oh dear, it?s all coming back now...

(1976 Director: James Fargo) Yes I am old enough to have seen this one when it came out! Call me a sucker for the times or whatever, but I really think this was a great movie about the cool FUZZ. Just watched it again--seeing little (young) Tyne Daly in her debut role as Inspe...( read more)ctor Kate Moore, who has never made an arrest prior to partnering with Honky Inspector Harry Callahan. .

The Enforcer or Dirty Harry Versus the Terrorist Hippies is the third installment in the Dirty Harry series. This is the first Dirty Harry movie I have ever seen and I have to say that is was "Marvelous." Clint Eastwood was so cool when he was young and I hope he will not make a ...( read more)Dirty Harry returns movie when he is about 75. I like Dirty Harry just the way it is. A great series everybody should watch, or just those who lilke cop films. Dirty Harry goes against the Terrorist Hippies A.K.A. the People's Revolutionary Strike Force without out getting a scratch meanwhile Inspector Moore his fourth partner gets killed. I would think by the third movie McKay would've realized that Harry really doesn't need anymore partners. Great movie but I was very dissapointed by the lack of blood that was produced (even though it looks like V8.) Right before the the mayor was kidnapped the guy that got shot was shot and like a beat later a eensy weensy bit of blood squirted out. I know this was the late 70's but come on, I need some more blood here. Great movie, and if you liked Tyne Daly watch Cagney and Lacey!

    Its pretty raw I guess.

The weakest of the "Dirty Harry" movies.
  • July 5, 2009
In this 3rd Dirty Harry movie, Harry is up against a nutty religious terrorist group that kidnap the mayor. He's teamed with a woman cop (Tyne Daly) who he thinks can't handle the job.

This one is more like the first and much better than the 2nd movie. In Magnum Force, Harr...( read more)y was a little of a softy and had time for romance with an unimportant character. That movie lost focus often. This film never stops moving forward though. It's much shorter than Magnum Force but that works for the film. Since it's never really boring and doesn't drag out like Magnum Force did.

This was a very fun movie to play "name that current day actor". The story was a little weak and didn't really hold my attention, but they sure did blow a lot of stuff up!
  • June 20, 2009
As much as I like Tyne Daly, Hollywood always uses movies like this as racist propaganda in America's on-going war against the poor.
  • June 13, 2009
Not as good as Magnum Force, but definitely was better than Dirty Harry. Better storyline and real life styled villians. Eastwood is just a legend, witty one liners and that fukin .44 gun! I love how each sequel his partner is so fukin annoying that they die and then he gets a ne...( read more)w one in the next movie!

I have to admit, I did not like his female partner's character. But not in a way to ruin the film, I just thought she was a bit useless. Perhaps owing to the times, maybe. This was a great film.
  • April 6, 2009
swell as inspector harry callahan back to action again this time with his partner was...a female(tyne daly of the also cop tv series of "cagney & lacey" and then "judging amy"). this is third of "dirty harry" series film.

    Dirty Harry III
  • February 11, 2009
Decent enough action fare with Eastwood swaggering through San Francisco blasting away at whoever he takes a notion to. The idea of 'saddling' him with a female partner is somewhat interesting, but the general plot is a little thin.

    Worth a rental.
  • January 23, 2009
Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is this time teamed up with Inspector Kate Moore (Tyne Daly) as they hunt for a group of terrorists who have kidnapped the mayor of San Francisco and hold him and the city for a ransom of Two Million Dollars.

Same as the first two. but still having fun watching them.
  • January 1, 2009
Never saw this Dirty Harry flick. It's great seeing Eastwood at his squinting, scowling best.
  • November 30, 2008
Dirty Harry 3.What a classic. It address's a big point in this that equal rights get a bit stupid sometimes.Cause its better having someone who can actually do the job.
  • November 9, 2008
This movie was great back in the day. I just rewatched it and it wasn't quite as good 30 years later.
  • October 19, 2008
It was a little short for a Dirty Harry movie, but it certainly does not disappoint.

  • September 4, 2008
All said and done I liked this movie. Eastwood delivers again as Harry Callahan, but perhapse some of his dialouge should've been cut. I'm use to him being the man of few words. The case wasn't as satisfying as some of the others in the series and the ending failed to be climacti...( read more)c. Worth the watch for Eastwood fans though.

Sounds more like an adult movie if you ask me.
  • July 24, 2008
One of the better Dirty Harry sequels. Tyne Daly is good. Nice story. Music was not up to par though. But very watcheable. Rent it. Good entertainment.
  • June 26, 2008
Not the best Dirty Harry flick but still a favourite of mine. Yes that is really Tyne Daly as his partner.
  • June 24, 2008
Once again, Harry Callahan returns in yet another explosive sequel... one that is somewhat alright but not too bad.

Callahan's latest baddies - a group of bad guys holding San Francisco ransom. Yes, they have a lot of arsenal of weapons but Harry only has his .44 Magnum to deal ...( read more)with these guys.

It was also a gender issue time that Harry never believes a woman cop can live up to his expectations until one does.

It's yet another shoot 'em up style with Clint Eastwood doing what he does best.
  • June 23, 2008
Jesus, Harry's got some luck. Everywhere he goes, a burglary is happening. What are the odds?

There's really nothing new covered in this third installment of the Dirty Harry franchise. I mean, in the first one, we saw Harry take the law into his own hands and thank G...( read more)od he did. That Scorpio killer scared the pants off of us and took a bus full of kids hostage. Part two showed us what lines Harry draws in the sand. We know that he's a cop who's above the law, but is not a vigilante or a murderer. There's limits. So that was the apology and the rounding out that the first movie didn't offer us. But what did part three offer us?

This is the last of the 70's movies and I think that I'm pretty happy that the series took a small sabbatical before coming back for Sudden Impact in the 80's. Harry's the kind of cop who deals with psycho killers and murderers, not terrorists. This one has the whole feminism theme going on with the movie and balancing that against domestic terrorist plots is just a little awkward. While there's nothing really wrong with this film, it doesn't really cover any new ground and any of Harry's rebellious attitute just seems forced in an attempt to be somewhat shocking to mainstream America.

Now, I'm pretty focused on women's rights and find that I'm a pretty open individual. But in some ways, I gotta respect Harry's opinion in this movie. (Wait, don't turn on me yet!) Now, this situation presented in the movie is a catch-22. There really is no right answer. The problem that I have is that Harry's partner has had no time in the field and has made no arrests whatsoever. Harry's killed so many people he's lost count. Really, do you want to team these people up? The catch-22 comes from the fact that the reason that his partner has no arrests because no one ever gave her a chance because of her gender. Yes, I know that there's a bit of hardassed preachiness going into this movie, but it's a weird line that this movie tried to address and, like I said earlier, it's just tacked on.

What I'm most shocked about is the fact that terrorists try taking over San Francisco and there's no crazy panic. I'm used to watching movies in a post 9/11 world, but this seems like it would be a huge deal. I mean, people were losing their cool at the Scorpio Killer. What about when an entire organization steals bazookas? I think I'd be crapping myself about that sooner than I would an individual killer. (Although, I would be terrified of the Zodiac if I was alive too...)

I think that this might be the hardest of the movie to review. I guess The Enforcer summarizes what I think about the entire Dirty Harry franchise. It's a damned good franchise and is fairly entertaining, but there's little that it is going to offer me in the long run. I watched this movie last week and I'm already forgetting parts of the movie. That's pretty sad. Again, I can't say that I was crazy disappointed, but there's nothing to this movie to get me to recommend it to others.

Dirty Harry vs. Terrorist Hippies. Things start to slip in this third installment with Harry getting a female partner (played by Tyne Daly).
Things started to go stale with this one I'm afraid, though Eastwood still is Dirty Harry. Harry's partner gets killed leads to revenge, l...( read more)eads to the mayor being kidnapped, leads to stuff blowing up. A descent flick, but not up to the standards of the first two.

The best of the Dirty Harry series.

A fine addition to the Dirty Harry saga. Clint Eastwood once again dominated the screen, and it once again worked out really well.
