Unlike Julien Temple's previous Sex Pistols film "The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle" that was based on the blabbermouth that was the Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren's 'view' point, "The Filth And The Fury" is based on the true story of the rise and fall of the notorious punk band and told by the band members themselves. With it's moving, entertaining and shocking scenes, great music and great directing/editing, "The Filth And The Fury" is not only the best music documentary ever made, it might just be the best documentary ever made period. A must see for any Sex Pistols fan, and if you don't know anything about the band this is also a good start to find what the Sex Pistols was all about.
only applies to people who have an interest in them. didnt tell me anything new.. bunch of cunts that self destructed. me, tim, keith and cody should start a band just to make a doc'... crackers and comedy, the year in denton texas story.
This movie is funny, moving and interesting. The Sex Pistols are my favourite band and I can watch this movie over and over again. I always like this band but when I rented this movie from the video store I fell in love with them, especially Rotten. Not to be unseen!
an excellent documentary, the truth about how it really happened. John Lydon shedding tears about Sid's death 25 years later is shocking in a way and very moving.
Documentary dealing with one of the most important bands ever, The Sex Pistols. Suprisingly moving, especially the scene where John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) cries when he's recalling the death of Pistols bass guitarist and best friend Sid Vicious.
Not much in the way of a documentary but revealing nonetheless. The really important aspect of this is that it delves into the lives of the former Sex Pistols and shows us that it wasn't all fun and riches. One guy died for fucks sake!
This one made me love these guys even more. The documentary delves into how it really was for them. They did not think of themselves as a joke while, unfortunately many people still see them as one.
The footage of the era & the band itself is outstanding & keeping the surviving members in siloulette (& management in S&M mask) during recent interviews was a really nice touch; no one wants to see legends get old (unless it's graceful). A must for fans of the Pistols..+ Green Day fans (so you know how much you're being cheated)
Wow! Fantastic interviews with the surviving band members of the Sex Pistols and this documentary gives a history of Punk Rock music. Hated the Shakesperean segments though.
I saw it when it first came out and when I was more into The Sex Pistols. I remember really liking it--especially the way the interviews with the surviving Pistols as if their identities were anonymous. A must for any Pistols fan.
el mejor documental sobre los Sex Pistols. nada de observaciones personales, nada de puntos de vista: la banda contando su historia. corta, pero efectiva. asi tendria que ser todo docuemental de rock.
