For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the ...( read more)start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this.

Yet another addition to the serial killer thriller made me slightly curious with such an abstract title. Unfortunately, this one was ultimately very forgettable and not even particularly interesting. While Richard Gere's character was fun as a bit of a badass, there was nothing e...( read more)lse going on here to write home about (let alone write here). Solid story, but to be honest, I expected more from director Andy Lau. Perhaps this well has been visited far too often?

I'm going to be lenient about "The Flock". It's the kind of thing that fans of C.S.I. will get a kick out of but horror fans will just shrug at.
Apart from jittery edits and the grainy look that far too many films have lately, it isn't filmed too badly. At least the camera stayed...( read more) still enough for it to be watchable even if the shot framing itself sometimes also left a lot to be desired.
I'm not a fan of Richard Gere though so his performance was wasted on me. He is just all wrong for the part but is slightly more suited to it than Claire Danes who doesn't really have the experience to make her role credible at all.
The story is pretty lightweight too. It's more or less "Se7en" but with sex offenders instead of serial killers and social workers instead of cops.
There are a couple of good moments which are reminiscent of "Dirty Harry" but the gory scenes (which I was looking forward to) are quite weak. You don't really get to see anything too visceral which is a shame.
KaDee Strickland is quite good as the psychotic Viola though. She was surprisingly sexy later on too. Avril Lavigne also has a very small role which will please the kiddies but it was hardly all that memorable.
The weaknesses in the script and the ludicrousness of Richard Gere's character started to grate on me after a while so I really can't rate it any higher than I have.

well...the plot was good but the execution was very very poor. It was very slow and never quite picked up any real suspense...the acting was poor too...I was very much looking forward to it and I was dissapointed

Andrew Lau (director of the Infernal Affairs films) makes a thriller for Hollywood, although its not his best he makes a worthy attempt. Gere and Danes give intriguing performances and the story has a few twists. Similar to 8MM, but pulled off in a much better fashion. It does...( read more), however, tend to classify all sexual predators in the same general sleazeball category, making most of these characters come across as one dimensional.

Flock shows a different side of Richard Gere and Claire Danes. The usual charming Gere was looking very old and exhausted and the usually youthful Danes looked very mature and reserved. They both delivered great performances.

Wow. I put off watching this movie for the simple fact of what its about. But I love Richard Gere and Claire Danes so I had to watch it sometime. It was really good. Richard Gere's character is insane. But not in a bad way. He is totally obsessed with his job, and is really good at too. Claire Danes comes on to replace him but ends up being his partner in crime.
I read some of the reviews before watching this movie, and some people were wanting to watch this just for Avril Lavigne being in it. So I wouldn't watch it just for her, considering she's in the entire movie for like a few minutes and I don't even think she said anything, just giggled. So, no real acting from her.
Anyways, the movie is really good, and knowing that the subject this movie is about is hard for some people to watch (including me), I will say it is one that shouldn't be looked past just for that reason. It's heartbreaking and at times hard to hear what some of these pervs did, but I thought the story was well played out, and the ending was great.

a dificult subject to make a film about as no one really wants to see things on this kind of topic. It was interesting but it was a bit random for my taste. they would end up in strange situations that didn't fit. i expected the visuals being a fan of the infernal affairs series ...( read more)but i think it was too much in this film with this story. And you have to lose points for killing Avril Lavigne. that's just not right.
