While not exactly a gift-wrapped present, it's safe to say that Flock will certainly appeal to television cop drama junkies and those who love to see Claire Danes cry, which would now include every film she's ever made.

Gritty filming and a good cast (even Richard Gere, who I tend not to like is okay here, though obviously this could have been better with someone else in the role). Avril Lavigne is also impressive in her brief appearance as a quite troubled young woman. Claire Danes is excellent, as she usually is and I didn't see the ending coming at all.
I am even more surprised to see this was straight to DVD. I am sure I have paid money at the cinema to see much worse movies.

Wow. I put off watching this movie for the simple fact of what its about. But I love Richard Gere and Claire Danes so I had to watch it sometime. It was really good. Richard Gere's character is insane. But not in a bad way. He is totally obsessed with his job, and is really good at too. Claire Danes comes on to replace him but ends up being his partner in crime.
I read some of the reviews before watching this movie, and some people were wanting to watch this just for Avril Lavigne being in it. So I wouldn't watch it just for her, considering she's in the entire movie for like a few minutes and I don't even think she said anything, just giggled. So, no real acting from her.
Anyways, the movie is really good, and knowing that the subject this movie is about is hard for some people to watch (including me), I will say it is one that shouldn't be looked past just for that reason. It's heartbreaking and at times hard to hear what some of these pervs did, but I thought the story was well played out, and the ending was great.

For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this.

Richard Gere's character in the film is reminiscent of <i>The X-Files'</i> Fox Mulder. He's hyper-vigilant, slightly forlorn and determined to seek out the truth, even if others don't want him to.

Kinda disappointing, I expected more from the director of Mou gaan dou(Infernal Affairs), & About the cast althought I don't like Richard Gere But I think he's good in this movie but Claire Danes is annoying like always I really dislike her

Apart from jittery edits and the grainy look that far too many films have lately, it isn't filmed too badly. At least the camera stayed still enough for it to be watchable even if the shot framing itself sometimes also left a lot to be desired.
I'm not a fan of Richard Gere though so his performance was wasted on me. He is just all wrong for the part but is slightly more suited to it than Claire Danes who doesn't really have the experience to make her role credible at all.
The story is pretty lightweight too. It's more or less "Se7en" but with sex offenders instead of serial killers and social workers instead of cops.
There are a couple of good moments which are reminiscent of "Dirty Harry" but the gory scenes (which I was looking forward to) are quite weak. You don't really get to see anything too visceral which is a shame.
KaDee Strickland is quite good as the psychotic Viola though. She was surprisingly sexy later on too. Avril Lavigne also has a very small role which will please the kiddies but it was hardly all that memorable.
The weaknesses in the script and the ludicrousness of Richard Gere's character started to grate on me after a while so I really can't rate it any higher than I have.

With unsuspecting twists and turns and solid performances by Richard Gere and Claire Danes, 2007's "The Flock" turned out to be quite the underrated psychological thriller from Wai-Keung Lau that never got the wide release it deserved. Anyone familiar with Hong Kong cinema would recognize him as the director of the brilliant "Infernal Affairs" series. "The Flock", Lau's English language film debut, is equally as riveting in action and mysterious in its cinematography as his popular works.

This is a story about a diligent Department of Safety employee who has the nasty job of monitoring convicted sex offenders who are on parole in his jurisdiction. As it happens, a perverted sex killer is on the loose and with a 17-year-old girl is missing, (Richard Gere) Erroll Babbage is convinced that the missing girl is linked to one of the flock of deviants he monitors.
His boss gives him his marching orders (in the disguise as an early retirement plan) because of his obsessive behavior on the job so along comes Claire Danes' Allison Lowry who is brought in to replace Babbage but Allison is somewhat naive about the job in the beginning and as Babbage says, "She wouldn't last two months." (She didn't impress me much in this movie at all)
The subject matter is very disturbing and derives its personality from its sexual deviancy background but if you can handle the sexual abuse topic, then you'll enjoy this suspenseful and very interesting movie.

Andrew Lau (director of the Infernal Affairs films) makes a thriller for Hollywood, although its not his best he makes a worthy attempt. Gere and Danes give intriguing performances and the story has a few twists. Similar to 8MM, but pulled off in a much better fashion. It does, however, tend to classify all sexual predators in the same general sleazeball category, making most of these characters come across as one dimensional.

I liked this film and I like Richard Gere as an actor but I'd never heard of this one and it went straight to DVD which is usually a bad sign. But it surprised me in a good way. Richard Gere was really good in the leading role. Unfortunately Claire Danes was not. It's a creepy film about a nasty subject.
All in all, it's a good thriller.

Quality thriller and some brilliant acting by Gere. Nasty subject matter but handled really well.

not a bad thriller that reminded me alot of the movie seven with very similar endings. Was nice to see Richard Gere in a darker sorta role for a change and i hope to see more of this kinda stuff from him in the future.
