The Forbidden Kingdom Reviews and Ratings

Couldn't remember the details, but this movie is funny and full of jokes. A man went to the past and brought back the magic stick for the monkey king (Journey to the West). At the end, the future man will back to his period of time.

Great movie for the "Kung Fu Fantasy" fan. Its good to see Jackie and Jet in the same movie. Good effects and good story line. Not for the youngsters.

childish story, nonetheless i was deeply amused with the fight scenes, they make it look so good and worth it...

Jackie Chan and Jet Le were absolutely amazing together. Overall it was awesome
  • October 18, 2009
It was... okay. A slightly more plastic form of a typical chinese kungfu movie, but some characters made it worth watching. Good choreography (as expected), but am slightly turned off by the whole "cool American kid" bit. Simple movie, that's it really.

Eh... I could take it or leave it. Maybe my expectations were already lowered due to the mixed reviews I got.

  • September 24, 2009
This is a really good fantasy adventure movie with two of my favorite actors (Jackie Chan and Jet Li). A boy finds himself in a different world and becomes the key to the future of that world.
  • September 24, 2009
Obviusly, the story is incredibly retarded and cliched, not to mention overused. A typical American @sshole travels back in time to ancient China and must go back home, not before fulfilling a task first... Sounds familiar? No... It sounds OVERUSED! However, it is kickass mindles...( read more)s fun with (that's right) Yuen Woo-Ping behind the work. Seeing Jackie Chan and Jet Li kicking their respective ass was just too much for the screen. Epic mediocrity...

If you've been looking for a martial arts film to take your kids to, this might be the one, but a Jackie Chan-Jet Li collaboration deserves much better than that...

a typical martial arts film. a teenager who love martial arts was sent to other dimension with the help of mysterious stick/wood with amazing power.. jackie chan teaches the teenager named Jason the kung fu and in the end when the battles end jason finally went back to his real...( read more) world and he was not a typical guy who being bullied from his classmate he know how to depend his self.. . I really liked The Forbidden Kingdom fun and adventure.... ive learned lots of martial arts words of wisdom from jackie chan.. all in all this is a great and enjoyable movie.

  • September 10, 2009

  • September 9, 2009
Very good and Very funny. One of my favourites
  • September 5, 2009
The story is a bit corny but i think the fight scenes were the real stars here. They were well choreographed and were fun to watch.

I've ALWAYS wanted to see Jet Li and Jackie Chan do a film together. But this flick ended up being one of those typical white-boy-comes-along-and-becomes-a-skilled-martial-artist in a span of a few seconds of a montage. Its been done. I could've done without Michael Angarano in i...( read more)t at all. What should've been a treat ended up being a really bland film in the long run. I do hope that Chan and Li work together again though.

a "karate-kid" guy + jackie "drunken master" chan + jet "the monkey" li equals a very likeable film with fantasy, action, humour. okay the martial arts are well cut for our bit old friend chan, i guess ;)

Full of cliché. The story and characters are not moving. Kungfu moves are okay, but too much effects makes it unbelievable.
  • August 26, 2009
    Excellent! I loved it.
  • August 22, 2009
Entertaining.....but c'mon - it's a Jackie Chan film! It rarely goes beyond the average feeling ;))

aku suka bgt ni kombinasi antara jet lee dan jackie chen
  • August 7, 2009
The film is beautiful in many ways and the fighting great. However, the whole movie seems like a parody of Wuxia for white american children... and of course nerds like me and Tripitikas. It seemed some what disrespectful that the characters of Ni Chang and Golden Swallow were we...( read more)ak and undeveloped- although I seriously doubt any one could easily fill the shoes of Brigitte Lin and Cheng Pei Pei.
