Had some pretty cool fight sequences. It was entertaining for the most part. Wasn't a big fan of the Karate Kid element of the plot, but besides that I liked it. Ending was kinda predictable, but most these days are anyway, so can't really hold that against it.
  • February 24, 2009
    I was a bit disappointed
  • February 23, 2009
No one told me this was a Karate Kid movie... Five stars for Jackie and Jet, one for the rest of the movie...

Mawkish and a bastardised pastiche of Chinese cinema.

  • February 12, 2009
The kids (and the kids in us adults) should love this fantasy adventure film. It's Karate Kid, Monkey and The Dark Crystal all rolled into one. Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended. One for the Kung-fu fans only I would suspect. Good special effects however. Curiosity value for me alone and certainly wouldn't bother to rehire it.

I only watched it for Jackie Chan and Jet Li. that white guy...r u serious???? What was up with that!!!!!!! Jet Li acting like a monkey...uhhh a new side of him I've never seen. Personally the white guy brought down my liking this movie.

I sorta felt like I was watching a play the whole time with this terrible acting. The special effects are kind of cool but overall, this is a movie made for money with no purpose. If you love Jackie Chan or Jet Li and you love flying Asians with phenomenally surprising martial arts powers then go for it. If you want a story with a lame kid actor or a not so surprising twist then go for it. If you want to not be entertained by a cheesy American martial arts movie then go for it.

the only thing that makes this movie interesting are the actors. the storyline is too cliche

I'm a huge fan of martial arts flicks. Anything from Hero to Shaolin Soccer to 3 Ninjas to Ninja Scroll - they are all right up my alley. Add my love of these kinds of movies to the fact that The Forbidden Kingdom has both Jackie Chan and Jet Li, and it should be one of my favor...( read more)ite chop-socky films of all-time, right? Not so fast.

While watching The Forbidden Kingdom, I just could not shake the idea that the makers of the movie were convinced that the fans of Jackie Chan and Jet Li were going to automatically flock to their film, so a lot of effort in order to make the movie actually good just wasn't necessary. Even though it is rated PG-13, it seems like it was made with a younger audience in mind. There is none of the cinematic complexity of Hero, none of the breathtaking fight sequences of Crouching Tiger, and none of the brutal violence of Ong-Bak. It all is just so safe and standard. I do not really even get where the PG-13 rating comes from, it could have been rated G, without the alcohol references and gun scene.

I was disappointed with nearly every element of this movie, and a few very pretty female actresses are not even enough to make me give it a higher score. It is cool to see Jackie Chan and Jet Li fight with and beside each other, but that should have only been the starting point to a much more complete project. There have been some simply epic martial arts movies in the last 10 years, and they leave no reason to recommend a by-the-numbers, fantasy-tinged flick like The Forbidden Kingdom.

    jet li and jackie chan.invincible.

Loved It! Awesome to see Jackie Chan & Jet Li face off

"He who speaks, does not know. He who knows, does not speak. Surely you're masterful."

"The Forbidden Kingdom" brings together three talented martial arts legends. Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Yuen Woo-Ping, the action choreographer.

I've always liked both Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Th...( read more)eir acrobatics are sometimes astonishing to watch. This movie has its moments with the fight scenes but it never gives us anything really special.

The story is another predictable fantasy story. On the way the lead character learns about honor, loyalty and friendship. It is somewhat interesting with some funny moments.

Li and Chan both do double roles in the movie and manage to do an average job, but the kid in the leading role didn't fit the part. His an American in an Asian world. Would've worked better if the movie would've been entirely an Asian production.

Too many negative aspects, you say? Well, I actually enjoyed the movie. The film gives us two kung fu legends and a nice story. Sometimes that is enough for an entertaining two hours.

This is a pretty good movie i thought. The young guy looks so familiar though but i can't remember where he is from. lol.
  • January 23, 2009
Hollow, looks quite nice, very bad acting, cool fight scenes, stupid use of English language, Jackie Chan sucked but Jet Li sucked much much harder by trying to convince people of his monkey expressions. Stupid and entertaining.
  • January 22, 2009
when i had seen this movie I fall in love with it
  • January 22, 2009
Combining a '70s martial arts flick with '80s kids' fantasy, this is thoroughly entertaining, and the face-off between the awesome Jackie Chan and Jet Li was worth the price of admission alone.
  • January 21, 2009
Not even the two leading asian actor in the world of present time can save a bad script, thin storyline and host of other problem of the film. It's about time these two starred in a film together! Yeah, so the story is kinda cheesy (okay, epicly cheesy!), and it takes itself far to seriously at times, but that's not the point! Your watching it for the enjoyment factor, in which it delivers in spades.

It was a pretty decent movie. Really sad that Sparrow died in the end but really glad that she was there when he got back to his world.

it has got some really corny bits in it.
