The Forbidden Kingdom Reviews and Ratings

Really cool movie. I was pleasantly surprised that Li and Chan were not the stars as much as supporting actors. The action was not overdone and the story stuck to point and flowed pretty good. I can watch this movie more than once a year which adds to repeated enjoyment.

A love letter to Wushu, kung fu and old Chinese cinema, you've got to love a film for that. However, what will make you fall even more in love is Jackie Chan and Jet Li being in the same film for a first time, the comedy, fight scenes and poignancy. The back story with the Americ...( read more)an kid is superfluous though, bit too Neverending Story for my taste.

Had some pretty cool fight sequences. It was entertaining for the most part. Wasn't a big fan of the Karate Kid element of the plot, but besides that I liked it. Ending was kinda predictable, but most these days are anyway, so can't really hold that against it.

    I was a bit disappointed
  • February 23, 2009
No one told me this was a Karate Kid movie... Five stars for Jackie and Jet, one for the rest of the movie...

The kids (and the kids in us adults) should love this fantasy adventure film. It's Karate Kid, Monkey and The Dark Crystal all rolled into one. Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended. One for the Kung-fu fans only I would suspect. Good special effects however. Curiosity value for me alone and certainly wouldn't bother to rehire it.

I only watched it for Jackie Chan and Jet Li. that white guy...r u serious???? What was up with that!!!!!!! Jet Li acting like a monkey...uhhh a new side of him I've never seen. Personally the white guy brought down my liking this movie.

I sorta felt like I was watching a play the whole time with this terrible acting. The special effects are kind of cool but overall, this is a movie made for money with no purpose. If you love Jackie Chan or Jet Li and you love flying Asians with phenomenally surprising martial arts powers then go for it. If you want a story with a lame kid actor or a not so surprising twist then go for it. If you want to not be entertained by a cheesy American martial arts movie then go for it.
