I can put up with the crap story, the bad acting and terrible effects, its the bullshit lies that I can't take. Do not try and pass off this kind of 5th rate shite as real. In this age of internet the lies of the filmakers where blown apart within a few days of the films realea...( read more)se. Nothing you will see during the duration of this snorefest is real. And the actress playing the 'REAL' Abigail Tyler is clearly retarded! Do not watch unless you are either really stupid or have a love of crap movies.

Cinema has a long history of representing fiction as fact. Blair Witch, Fargo, Cannibal Holocaust, This is Spinal Tap etc. But never before has a film tried so embarrassingly to be seen as the truth. Jovovich starts the film with something similar to a PSA, telling us of these "t...( read more)rue" events. It then proceeds to show "real" footage along with reconstructions. It looks and feels like a TV documentary. Similar to Strange, But True? This is not something for the cinema. In today's internet world, it took a few hours after the release of the trailer to completely debunk it. It comes across as a child insisting on the truth behind an urban myth, even after everybody else has stopped believing. There's some nice stuff here. Many of the scenes are genuinely creepy and quite unsettling. However, this should have been just a mockumentary, or a film claiming to be true. Mixing the two is just desperate.

The Fourth Kind is an alien abduction thriller that is supposed to be authentic and based on a true story, but in reality, is not. In fact, the movie studio was fined thousands of dollars by the city of Nome, Alaska for posting fabricated news stories on the web that woul...( read more)d correspond with characters in the film.

The story centers around strange, unexplained disappearances and encounters in the small town of Nome, Alaska. Director Olatunde Osunsanmi uses a suggestion of truth gimmick to help the audience connect with the film on a deeper level. And, honestly, it works... until you find out that you have been doped. The film even begins with actress Milla Jovovich giving a service announcement about how the film is based on facts, but essentially it is up to the viewer to believe what they are about to see. The director, however, did an excellent job with the narration. The film was often times shot in split screen with Jovovich and company acting it out on one side, and the terrifying "real" footage collected from doctor's offices and such were shown on the other side. These "real" footages provided a lot of creepy thrills, especially under the assumption they were authentic.

This film will play mind games with the viewer, and it will force you to question it's authenticity. The real footage is haunting, and the doctor's story of alien abduction is terrifyingly convincing. Regardless of what you think about this film, it forced me to do some research about it afterwards. I won't elaborate because I don't want to spoil plot details, but many accusations and facts in this movie are verified by the FBI... but the alien abduction theory was neither confirmed or denied. Is The Fourth Kind real, or is it a hoax? I don't know if I personally buy it, but ultimately that is for you to decide. Regardless of one's beliefs, it remains a thought-provoking movie that will leave you pondering for days.

It?s an interesting approach to the alien theory with this movie being shot like a documentary. All performances are great with Mila jovovich being on fine form here. The movie is shot with real (you decide on this) stock footage and video interviews from the main person that mil...( read more)la is portraying. This adds to the eerie feel of the movie and give you some nice jumps and scares. It?s great to see that the alien adduction theme back on the big screen again, this movie didn?t add anything new or give you any new answers its pure entertainment. I have read reviews and webs site saying that this movie is not a true story as it claims and that the stock footage to be fake. But at the end I doesn?t care this movie was great and if I wanted to see real stories about this theme I?ll go to the documentary channels for that.

This one has a different fear factor. There is no grisly killings, macabre or any sadistic horror here. It takes an original and refreshing approach on an audacious premise of alien encounters and abduction. All of this took place in Nome, Alaska. I think I had enough of the SAW ...( read more)films, 2 of those kinds were more than enough for me.Milla Jovovich stated here: "Some of what you are about to see is extremely disturbing". and she is right. It is entirely up to one to decide after viewing this film, whether what they have seen is real. The Fourth kind is far from perfect but it does deliver some terrifying moments and is guaranteed to make you ponder.

Ultimately, the film's narrative segments are far too glossy and over-stylized, larded with ponderous scoring, obvious melodrama and split-screen visuals that offset the "reenactments" with the "real." full review

Saw this movie recently, and it was so freaky! The movie had a lot of scary scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat... I really liked how it incorporated split-screen footage which used both raw and recreated scenes. Milla Jovovich was fabulous, too. I thought she did an excellent job channeling her character. Overall, I give this movie a 5 star rating. It was one of the creepiest movies I've seen all year. Definitely worth checking out!

This is an excellent thriller, suspense and eerie. Thought provoking and challenges you to think critically. I haven't been scared watching a film since I was 8 and saw "The Exorcist" for the first time and keep in mind that my family was devoted Catholics.

Of course I wasn't as traumatized now, but I can tell you that its the only film that has had that effect on me now that I'm an independent thinker.

People who say Paranormal Activity is the scariest movie of the year have to see this one and will change their minds. Given that P.A has an effect on you ONLY if you believe in demon possession and that kind of "paranormal" otherwise it will have zero effect.

As to this film no matter if you are an atheist which I am btw and a extremely skeptical person YOU WILL be challenged. It's one of those films that will leave you bamboozle. Go see it when it comes out this friday:)
