is a great movie i luv it i saw it when i was a kid and it scared me! but when i watch it again it didnt really but its a great movie and its about Four teenagers, Amy Harper, Buzz Klemmet, Richie Atterbury and Liz Duncan, travel to the carnival which has just come to town, for some fun. As the night begins to come to an end, Liz suggests they stay the night in the funhouse. They all agree and decide to take the last ride before the attraction shuts down. As they stay in the funhouse, the four witness and horrific murder aganist a psychic reader by a very big man in a frankenstien mask, also Richie takes some of the money earned by the man who runs the funhouse. The owner is furious about the missing money and sends his son, Gunther, who killed the reader, to take care of the thieves. Now the four are locked in the funhouse, being stalked and killed one by one, by the FREAK in the frankenstain mask who really is a horribly deformed and mentally challenged man.

A group of friends visit a fair and decide it would be a lark to sneak into the funhouse and stay overnight. When they witness a deformed carny commit murder, suddenly the idea doesn't seem all that hot. Great late night horror flick.

The Funhouse is a great little campy, fun, atmospheric horror flick. This is another popcorn flick with a good old Halloween holiday feel to it.

    Plot -

"Against her father's orders, Amy goes to a sleazy traveling carnival with her new boyfriend Buzz, her best friend Liz, and Liz's boyfriend Richie. Unbeknownst to the four teens, Amy's prank-happy little brother Joey (who happens to be obsessed with classic horror movies) sneaks out of the house and follows them to the carnival...which Amy's father was opposed to because a couple of girls were found murdered at its previous location; no one knows who killed the two children or how, although both girls had to be identified via dental records.

At the carnival, the four youngsters smoke marijuana and sneak into a 21-and-over strip joint. They heckle Madame Zena the fortune teller , visit a freaks of nature exhibit, and view a magic show. Finally, the foursome telephone their parents and lie to them, so they can spend the night in the carnival's funhouse - actually a dark ride - after it closes. While Joey waits for them to emerge, the teenagers enjoy a sexual romp in the dark funhouse. Then they notice the Funhouse Barker's assistant - a huge man in a Frankenstein suit who never speaks - making out with a lingerie-clad Madame Zena (who is old enough to be the teens' grandmother). She demands a hundred dollars from "Frankenstein," and then refuses to "go all the way" as agreed. When she won't give back the money, "Frankenstein" attacks and strangles her to death. The four teenagers attempt to leave the funhouse, but it is locked up. It is now up to the group of four young teenagers to survive the night from the Frankenstein masked creature, and his crazed father Conrad Straker who is protecting him."

More then half of this movie just shows the teenagers hanging out at the carnival getting into all sorts of little mischievous adventures, and that's all in the beginning of the film. It's in the middle of the movie when the terror starts picking up little by little, but everything before that was the perfect build up and it still managed to be creepy without even showing anything at all. It was the tone of the film that carried it so well...the weird carnival with a troubled past, the creepy homeless people just wandering around aimlessly, an angry old fortune teller, sad deformed animals, a drunken magician dressed as Dracula, and a whole bunch of freaky deaky carnival ride owners. It's later on when the horror really gets thrown into your face with the psychotic ride owner Conrad Straker and his horribly deformed, mentally challenged blood thirsty son.

The acting isn't all that bad at all and the story, although not too original, was told in a very creepy fashion. Again, this is just a fun little horror flick, nothing's here that will stick with you forever but it is still enjoyable to watch(perhaps one of those movies that's good for a stormy night). This is another one that's not all about the gore, but more just for the creepy atmosphere and bizarre characters. I think this is one of Tobe Hooper's best films and I highly recommend it if you're a fan of campy little horror films with great dark atmosphere. I grew up on this one and I just love this movie!

I love this slasher movie; it's one of my favorites. The plot is pretty good, and you really can't go wrong with Toby Hooper. But if you're looking for a fun gore flick, definitely check this out.

Tobe Hooper does not let down in this classic. Which is why we told you not to spend the night at the fair and of course the funhouse!. Pure cheesy 80's movie. A few good scares, and I loved the monster. Very creepy, and slobbery, yuck. The acting was very well done and the special effects were very good for a low budget film. Also, I liked how it takes awhile for the fun to begin, lets you know this won't be your average horror film. The best thing of this film, is the music, its just very terrifying and alarming, with a nice classical edge. Watched it Halloween night, and is still a very well done classic.

This is surprising effective horror film that is stylishly directed by original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" director Tobe Hooper. The performances were believable, there are some intense scenes and the villain is pretty freaky. However it does go down a bit in the last half, which I found a little too unsatisfying. You know I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this but I wouldn't mind seeing this remade, I know I know but there were aspects of it wouldn't mind that they go further with. Overall it is a pretty good horror film that I would recommend you to check out.

Not bad for an 80's horror film. The girls shine compared to guys in acting talent and there are some stagy moments. The Largo Woodruff has an exceptional scene in a tunnel that is extremely well done.

The cover/poster for this Tobe Hooper movie look promising, but it's a let down. The build up is to long and the horror is kept to a minimum. The acting and plot is decent, but nothing stands out, so you can just skip this one.

Another good horror outing from Tobe Hooper. The funhouse setting works very well, but the clown on the DVD cover is a little deceiving. I'm not sure I liked the main character too much either.

The Funhouse has most of the ingredients of many slashers made famous by our friend Jason Vorhees(and his mother of course): cute babe, isolated and/or strange setting, and superpowered deformed(but still human) killer. I liked the setting at the carnival, and the villain to some degree, but the deaths were your average slasher movie fare. It only gets four stars, because i think the "Final Girl" is cute.
