Bai Ling is hilarious! This sci-fi actioner about DNA Hackers looks pretty decent, and has cool concepts but can't figure out what it wants to be, and some the action is poorly done, and Bai Ling's acting chops are non-existent!

I have to admit that I agree with most reviews on this film; it's nothing to write home about, yet on the other hand it's not really that bad either and I can honestly say that I have seen much, much worse. Its problem lies where all films' problems lie and that's with the script....( read more) It's absolutely inane, absurd and makes virtually no sense at all even within the world it attempts to create. The actors seem to be working with what they are given but there's only so much they can accomplish with this tripe. Bai Ling does her best--she fills out her sexy costume and strips down for a couple of nude scenes, and Parry Shen (best known for his brilliant performance in BETTER LUCK TOMORROW) gives his all trying to make his role of the troublesome younger brother interesting. In the end however, everyone is defeated by director Pearry Teo's adaptation of his own comicbook. You'd think that with this much control over the end product Teo would have been able to produce more than this confused and confusing flick that serves only to make the viewer wish they were watching BLADERUNNER.

OUCH! The only reason I gave this a chance was the fact I was curious to see Bai Ling as a lead. I rarely see her with any up front roles. I liked her in Three Extremes and thought, "what the hell".

There are a few flaws in this movie. I think the most glaring is the time spent ...( read more)on post production to "create" the world. It feels too over styled to me. Unlike the mix of CGI and reality we saw in a movie like the Matrix, this feels forced. Let's take Firefly for example. The CGI flowed and mixed well with the live elements. Everything looked superimposed and overwhelming here. From the very first scene with the CGI breaking glass and flames, it just felt wrong.

Secondly, the movie is trying to cast Ling as an action star AND a sex symbol. I don't think either fits her well. She may be known around Hollywood for her wardrobe malfunctions, but the director puts her breasts and butt in our face in a few scenes that don't need it. For example, she is mad and waiting for her brother to come home. She decides to wait for him in a mesh outfit with no bra? Her nipples are sticking straight out. Not realistic. Personally, I think Bai Ling would do better as someone seductive, not straight out sexual. She doesn't have the looks or shape for that (in my opinion). Don't even get me started on the RIDICULOUS Eddie Munster boots with 8 inch soles she wore throughout the movie. Even her sandals had these silly soles.

As far as the action scenes, they are sped up and too fast and blurry to make out.

The story is OK. I think it could have been played out better if the acting was better and the set wasn't so distracting. I also laughed that the same pile of money was used as the same prop to denote different denominations of money. Although it was clearly the same bundled paper, it was used as $50,000 in one scene and $200,000 in another.

Oh and my wanting to see Bai Ling as a lead, well, her acting was not strong at all. I don't think this was a good role for her. Maybe she needs to be in a drama, not an action flick.

Postapocalyptic dystopia. Weird, needed to tone down the strange graphics and turn it into an action flick.

Wow! Didn't see this coming. An enjoyable cyber-punk, sci fi romp based on a comic book I'd never heard of.
The story was average at best but didn't make it any less watchable.
Really nice cyber look and feel to it. Funky imagery and outstanding musical contributions by Combichr...( read more)ist. Oh, and a couple of really good digital blood splatters FTW.
