Hell Yeah...who ever thought lions could be soo scary. Val and Michael make the perfect team to go head to head with these bloodlust beast. When they would get into the camp and just go on a rampage, that was good stuff.
Humans have an irrational fear: that all other animals think we are tasty. But what if an animal was killing people, not to make them snacks but because it liked killing? essentially that is the concept of this film, based on a true incident, where two male lions began slaughtering railroad workers in Africa. It's a very flawed film--Michael Douglas's character was invented for the film and is an overacted cliche--but it has its moments. The attack on a temporary hospital by the lions is particularly harrowing. all in all worth a look, but hardly a classic.
Quite possibly my favorite movie of all time. The true story of two lions in Kenya, who cause problems when for British bridge-builder John Patterson. a must watch.
Amazing! I knew threw my phone at the tv I got so excited watching this movie. It will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time, a n amazing movie.
There should have been more development with the characters especially Michael Douglas's character. Also some of the scenes feel out of order and the ending was too fast. The visual effects are amazing especially at the end when you see a lion chasing after Val Kilmer. That was intense. Overall this is a movie that makes you want to fast forward to the good parts and just skip the snoozer parts.
I don't like Kirk Douglas's oldest son and never have, so I watched this movie because of Val Kilmer originally. Imagine my surprise when I found I really enjoyed this story (based on true events) and that Michael's acting did not get in the way of the film
val kilmer does look good in uniform.hehehe..so i have been told...
nevertheless this film is full of feeling and the notion of myths and beliefs do go on in places like that. the name given to the lions was perfect. A true king amongst the animal world and even our world, that look in the eyes of the beast is scary. To look at them you can see that they are not scared of anything espcially us...enjoy
Great film with great acting from Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas. The acting really made this an impressive film with brilliant scenes. Usually I would want to be an extra in most good films but somehow I think I would of passed if I had been asked to be in the lion attack scenes!
This is a perfect example of how a great movie trailer can tell you absolutely nothing about the movie and still make you want to go see it, regardless of how bad it is. I saw the trailer for this one way back in the day when it was first coming out, and the trailer made it look absolutely terrifying, just a bunch of black and white shots of Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer pointing around wildly with their guns as something stalks them in the savannah grasses. And the title sounded pretty terrifying. I didn't know if I could deal with the intensity that this movie looked to be about. Then I watched the movie. Wow. Whoever designed the trailer deserves major credit. Not good. The story would definitely be worth telling, but this was just slow and boring. On top of that, the lion attacks are actually glossed over quite a bit. There's dialogue here and there as the movie progresses roughly equivalent to "Well, looks like those lions just killed 50 more people." "Bloody hell." Bloody hell, indeed.
I couldn't get into it no matter how much I like Val Kilmer. I fell asleep about half way through it but it was pretty late at night so I wouldn't say I was completely bored with it. It was mildly entertaining. Michael Douglas never impressed me much. Val Kilmer did an alright job but nothing as good as what he's capible of. A decent watch but I wouldn't exactly recommend it.
Its like Thunderheart and i love it! Val HOT AS USUAL but i mean it this film blew my mind and i am so gonna visit the lions! It touched me like Thunderheart and just IM WORDLESS
a really good thriller of sorts, val kilmer is brilliant but its a pity that michael douglas is only on screen for 15 to minutes before he's killed
a good story
I find this movie simply amazing, as it is based on a true story. The captivating account of eerily unnatural animal behavior is gripping, and the movie is very well acted. Definitely a great late-night thriller, and one that will keep you thinking.
A famous bridge engineer (Kilmer) heads off to Africa on his latest project, to build a bridge in record time. In no time two man-eating lions attack the campsite, and start mauling the innocent builders. They are forced to stop until the lions are caught to stop all the killings of the builders. After a while, famous lion hunter (Douglas) comes in to attempt to finish the job. This film can be classified as a horror, as it has some devastating and shocking moments, but it can also be classified as trash as the plotline is not realistic and the acting isn't that good! I must comment on Douglas' great acting though, he was outstanding and it's really sad he's not around for the entire duration of the film, as he would have lightened it up on some level. There are some interesting moments, and some outstanding effects, but the characters are killed off without mercy and the film becomes a pathetic hunter movie.
