I really liked this movie. Can't really explain why. I'm not as great as my husband is at these reviews. I would definitely mention this movie to a friend.

Epic sequel to Elizabeth that's not quite as stuffy and pretentious as it first appears. Cate Blanchett is iconic in her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I and Geoffrey Rush is unexpectedly more subdued in this, his second incarnation of Sir Francis Walsingham. I enjoyed this film much more than I expected to.

Cate Blanchett plays Elizabeth brilliantly, the story was beautifully and strongly portrayed. A deep film, and if you understand it - it can touch you at the very core.

I must start this review by stating that Cate Blanchett did an absolutely stunning job in this film. Overall, this historical drama is accurate and pleasant to watch as long as you can follow it. My only complaint is that there were several scenes in which I felt left out or as if I'd missed something but thankfully I watched this movie with a history lover who filled me in on facts I needed to know. Another problem was how quickly it went from being a story about the Queen to being a story about this abrupt war, that was only previously mentioned once, in the last 15 minutes. Overall a good film and well worth the time if you love Queen Elizabeth.

Strident performance from Blanchett, ably supported by Cornish, Owen and Rush. Kapur handles the skulduggery amongst the corridors of power with aplomb but is much less sure footed at sea.

Cate Blanchet? Clive Oven? ah? both powerful actors and definately my favourite actors. Not to mention acting in one of my favourite movie genre. I love to see movies that is based on real history. This time around, a movie about Queen Elizbeth I. The powerful trailer, the gorgeous costumes? ah nice settings. It is really interesting in how everyone have to be just very careful in their strategy planning. One can never know who will win in the end. It is definately interesting but yeap, one could also snore if history isn?t their favourite subject.

I may of given this a higher rating if it didn't have the terrible battle scenes at the end. Elizabeth I, the HBO mini series that stared Helen Mirren is a lot better.

This is a movie to watch if you like history, as I do. It can be slow and at times I felt a little confused through the story. It is a brilliantly made movie, the performances were faultless and the photography beautiful.

I'm not sure how historically correct this movie was. Even though, the storyline was very well structured and progressed seamlessly from start to finish. Aside from that, the movie was a visual treat and the cinematography was terrific. Despite these, the one thing that really made me like this movie was the superb performance of Cate Blanchett as the late Queen Elizabeth. She practically owned her character on screen.

Wonderful! This movie was incredible. Woman,Warrior and Queen. I'm not agree with that. From what I saw, woman was dominant here, so did queen. I barely saw a warrior in Elizabeth. The script itself was a good one. Kate took almost all of my attention, Elizabeth was perfect for her. Beside Kate, two thumbs up for Clive Owen, I really like him.
The plot, I know I'll love this movie from the beginning, and I did. The climax, I really feel the tension. This movie was awesome. I've mention it, right?

Not nearly as good as the first ( which is one of my favorite "period" movies ever ). Not terrible, though.

I watched Elizabeth and The Golden Age back to back and it was fascinating to watch the arc of this character from a shy, scared girl into a powerful, confident queen.

Cate Blanchett made a great performance as Elizabeth. Though I wasn't really satisfied with the movie (I kind of have different expectations in the last period). But then again, I did enjoy watching it. Nice story.

As usual Cate Blanchett gives us a spellbinding perforamnce as Elizabeth queen of England. This film is so poetic and has a level of beauty to it, which is portrayed by excellent costumes, settings and images. This film is very well acted by its supporting cast such as Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen as well. At times this film felt a little long and stretched but the acting and story were so rich that it made up for this minor set back.

A very good performance by Cate Blanchett is the first thing that will come to your mind after watching this historical epic.
The plot covers the Holy wars in which the spaniards try to turn England into catholicism.
The costumes were great, and were recognized "but not rewarded" by the oscars.
