La verdad no me gusta este tipo de peliculas tipo Harry Potter o tipo Narnia. Así tengan muy buenos efectos. Simplemente la historia deja mucho que desear, pues no tiene ni pies ni cabeza. So sorry... Es exclusivamente para niños sin cerebro.

Being a massive fan of this book I was really looking forward to a gritty journey on par with lord of the rings and what I got was a stupid kids movie. I didnt mind the actors but it lacked the magic that makes movies like this work.

The special effects are perfect. Nicole Kidman, Dakota Blue Richards and Eva Green are amazing. I loved it. I really wish they make a sequence.

The acting is quite good, especially from the young lead, and the animation makes one wonder what they can't do with computers these days!

No thank you...I think people need to understand the origins of the things they watch-look up the author of this book's intentions in writing such a book...just saying :]

Enjoyable film based upon Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy.
  • September 24, 2009
You know what? I'm going to give this one a pass. Is it disjointed? Yes. Does it make sense? Possibly not. However, I read the book, so I had no trouble following the movie, and there was something neat about watching it all onscreen. Was the book better? Sure, but that's...( read more) not fair-- His Dark Materials was better than 99% of all stories. Maybe the movie bastardized a lot of it, especially by cutting out the strong anti-Christian element, but I was able to fill in the blanks myself. Maybe that's not something I should be doing when reviewing a movie, but there you go.

Despite the plotline is kind of awkward, it is a good movie..
  • September 17, 2009
i just knew that i don't really like this movie, but i did watched it. i prefer Narnia. Even the actors and actresses so good.
There's the second movie, rite? well, maybe i won't hope it at all. And if i finally the second movie, i might be not so that interesting. We'll see.

    Cannot wait for the sequel...

Sly cunning, fluid and immaginary at least a little, but it was the way it was put together making it a great picture too. Wasn`t much at all from Daniel Craig but the girl at least holds her own with the likes of Nic Kidman and allways ever domin...( read more)ating voiceovers, that must have been fun for her and the other children actors to work... around, with.

A girl and her ?life mate? - a daemon, that all people have, sets off with a mysterious woman, instilling a journey of trust, wonder and a magical yet familiar relm. Opening friendships and lessons of a means to an end... but it cuts off in a To Be Continued-first part. Though a conclusion prompted by a finalay of immpressive quest fullfilment and action with aftermarth.

THe plot was too thin and too fast.
  • September 14, 2009
    impatiently awaiting the next movie!
  • September 12, 2009
Story was too confusing for kids..and adults alike.
  • September 11, 2009
Could have been wonderful, like harry potter its a clinical interpretation of a good book series. They should make the rest and let it improve, like the HP series
  • September 10, 2009
    should have been better
  • September 10, 2009
    hahah nah....im good
  • September 10, 2009

  • September 7, 2009
Loved the book and the film really captured everything well. Most people don't like it but i love it.
  • September 7, 2009
The film has it's fun moments and there are some really good performances. However, the film lacks character development and the pacing is very slow. But I really did like the special effects and those polar bears were fantastic!
  • September 6, 2009
pretty good , i watched it without reading the novels before or even seeing the trailer and i liked it , such a great picture , i enjoyed looking at the landscapes and was actually into knowing what will happen next , i loved the polar bear and it's sharp voice .
it's not one ...( read more)of the best fantasies but still it's worth watching

A good adaptation overall, though it could have been a little darker, like the book -- but I guess they were aiming for an audience of kids and all. And of course they left the ending of the book off, probably intending to start the second movie with it (though it looks like the...( read more)y won't make the second one after all, now that the economy is doing so poorly).

I thought it was quite good overall, and the people making it seem fairly devoted to doing it well; I think the following movies would have gotten darker as they went, much like the Harry Potter ones did. Alas. Maybe some day we'll see a continuance, or at least a new effort at adapting the series!

gd on its own, but not as gd as the books.
  • September 1, 2009
Chris Weitz' children's fantasy epic is about as fun as can be, and then some.
  • September 1, 2009
    Not as bad as Narnia
  • August 31, 2009
Even though I have yet to read the novel, the movie was still very imaginative and creative. Although I became lost in the story at certain points, I was still able to keep up with the storyline of the movie. Awesome effects and great cast. Overall it was a great fantasy movie. T...( read more)here was hardly a dull moment. I only have one negative thing about the movie..........and that is the sorry ending. I hope the ending meant that there is a sequel planned.

I liked it, it was better than harry potter to me it had more action. It Is not real clear on the story line it comes off alot of the characters seems to have their own hidden agendas/secrets. The main character is a young girl instead of a young boy. It is pretty good fictional...( read more) but a bit of action. I have it on dvd.
