Not a Poe adaption this time but a Lovecraft one, The Haunted Palace is one of my favorite Corman/Price movies. The atmosphere, story and performances are all fantastic. Recommended for genre fans!

Marvelous exercise in Grand Guignol, great sets, spooky atmosphere, fine screenplay by scenarist Charles Beaumont based on H.P. Lovecraft's The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and a splendid two-tiered performance by Vincent Price.

Corman tries to pass this off as Poe but it's not nearly as successful as other Price teamings. Maybe I was hoping for a little more of Vincent's ham on a man who is battling possessions from a distant relative.
