MCT:August 17, 2008"The Haunting" may seem all right to me, but I had to go through most of the plot until I found action at the end. And I thought the film would have been better if the mansion were real rather than just Eleanor's visions.

The first half of this movie was fantastic. It was moody, scary, and suspensfull. Then the house turned into a CG monster and it went to crap.

Hahaha, funniest movie EVER. It was so ridiculous, with people randomly dying and Catherine Zeta-Jones screaming in a not very convincing way.

i thought the story line was pointless tbh, and not very thought out!
special effects however were awesome, and the colours of the sets were fabulous, was a good cast, but typical roles for jones, wilson and neeson! taylor's character was well done, other then that ok film!!! -

How can this be good??? It may be a little bit cool and intense, but it is so lame and Hollywood-typical compared to the original classic masterpiece of Robert Wise. watch only if there's nothing else on Earth to watch... perhaps.

I'm not sure where the film makers were going with this remake, but it definately wasn't up. It just seems like a carbon copy of the original, with no effort or stock put into the story. Now, we can't have that can we?

Pretty Good. Altho I am not a big fan of Lili Taylor. A bit cheesy but an ok watch. Not really scarey if that is what you are looking for. The house itself is quite spectacular tho! I could sooo live there! lol

Back in 1999 this was totally scary... Back in 1999 I thought Lili Taylor and Liam Neeson gave great performances... Back in 1999 I thought Catherine Zeta-Jones was a good actress... Back in 1999 I was 9 years old.

I do like this film, but parts of me do prefer the original. The effects here are brilliant and you get to see more than the original, however, for me the original is better.

Kind of stupid even with all the great actors. The best part of the movie is Owen Wilson and he dies for no reason (except for taunting the haunting) in a horrible way. Boo.

Not bad but, I would have prefered if they would have stuck with orginal story line and not focused on the special effects.

MCT:November 29, 2007"The Haunting" descends into an ever more absurd spiral of pseudo-thrills. It promises thrills and chills, but delivers only yawns. The film is merely a flat, draggy exercise in cheesy special effects and grandiose art direction palming itself off as a horror film. The whole thing plays far more like an amusement park spook-house ride than a real movie and is a slap in the face to fans of horror movies, good movies, and logic. There's such a dumb story line and bad dialogue it's almost pathetic.

This movie is a total piece of crap! It's one of the worst remakes I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. If you're going to take a classic and remake it, you better make sure you do a damn good job with it or don't waste the film. I want the hour and a half back that this took film from my life. Eghhhh.
