Had I seen C. Thomas Howell in any major motion pictures since the 1980's? No. Should I have had any expectations of seeing a good film at all? No. Was this a good film? Not even close.

So why am I angry? I'll tell you. The first Hitcher film is one of my favourite thrillers o...( read more)f the 80's that had you on the edge of your seat the entire film and actually had the balls to dispatch main characters along it's course. This film is nothing but a cheap and pathetic rip off of the previous film, right down to supposed "twists and surprises" that are so lame you begin to wonder why they attempted a sequel in the first place. Well you are in the same both with the rest of us poor saps who actually spent money (thankfully only $.79 in my case) on this stinker.

The plot is simple, our hero from the original film (Howell) returns aged but still haunted by what happened to him 17 years ago. Because of this, both his job and his marriage are on the rocks so he decides to take a road trip (despite past experiences) with wife (Wuhrer) in tow. Along the way they run along to a stranger (Busey) who is essentially a replacement of the far superior Rutger Hauer in an inferior attempt to replicate the first films excitement.

If you are a fan of the first film, AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. This is only a sequel in name, and even C. Thomas Howell must have known that this was nothing but a paycheck in an attempt to cash in on the classic original. If you haven't seen the first film, I would still reccomend that you avoid this, but perhaps you can find more redeeming qualities in this junk than I could.

    3/10 (and I'm being generous)

It's an ok road movie slasher but not as good or intense as the first or the remake!

Decent, although it lacks the atmosphere and strong performances of the original movie.

It's the sequel to the original 1984 film and it's not great but sadly it's a little better than the remake to the original.

Not having seen the original (only the remake), this movie reminded me a lot of the remake. Just not a good sequel.

wow ummmn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch.....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie.....i think that c.thomas howell, douglas macleod, jake busey, kari wuhrer, mackenzie gray, marty antonini play good roles/pa...( read more)rts thorughout this movie.....its not as good as the 1st movie or the remake but this is still a good slasher movie.....its a good horror/thriller movie 2 watch but its still not as good as the 1st movie or the remake but still a good movie 2 watch

Terrible! There are so many reasons why this film should never have been made and also why it was thrown straight into the bargain bin!
Firstly, I asked myself the question: Why the hell does Howell drive down the same road and pick up a hitch-hiker!!?? Didn't he lea...( read more)rn from the original?
After that I was put off, but besides the whole idea for this sequel being pointless and unnecessary, the film itself is tacky, stupid and captures none of the atmosphere and suspense that the first film did. The characters are idiotic and ham it up throughout their scenes. The police are probably the most pathectically stupid force I've seen in a long time (one scene made me laugh for the wrond reasons where Jim and Maggie are hiding in a barn and the police fire countless shotgun rounds at the door!!! Surely that's not right)

The one thing this movie is good for is that it sums it up in one why the world DOES NOT need pointless and irrelevant sequels like this. Avoid at all cost.

I have no idea why they made this...it has one of the dumbest plots I've ever seen on a sequel...let's just hope and pray that they don't try to remake this one as well to accompany the 2007 flop
