I heard about this a few months ago and ever since I found out that Guillermo Del Toro was directing i've been excited.
I'm just hoping that this adaptation sticks more to the original plot and i'm sure Guillermo Del Toro will be able to do an admirable job, as did Peter Jackson with The Lord Of The Rings Triology. -

Just when you think you've said goodbye to Middle Earth for good, it comes back to you with what is sure to be of the same terrific quality as the Lord of The Rings films. Sure, Peter Jackson may no longer be the director, but from what I've gathered, he is involved enough for us fans to be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Besides, Guillermo Del Toro is almost as fantastic of an director, and does respect the source material, so I think it's fair to say that this movie won't disappoint. I'm still kind of worried about how "The Hobbit 2" will turn out though, as it will not be directly based on any of Tolkien's novels, but rather something of Jackson's and Del Toro's own creation. But ah well, the more we get from that dream team the better, because at least they know how to do fantasy the right way.

I'm not a fan of the whole lord of the rings thing, and frankly I find them slightly overrated but I'm willing to give the hobbit a shot because I love del toro's work

YESSSSS!!!! i heard a few years ago peter jackson was going to be directing this....and then i heard nothing for a while so i assumed the project was cancelled.....this is the first ive heard of it since then!!! i love the book :)

I HOPE - HOPE - HOPE James McAvoy is The Hobbit. I thnk he is absolutely perfect for the part!! I will see it regardless, because I love Tolkien, but all the more with McAvoy as the star!!!!

The Greatest Adventure is what lies ahead...
What I loved about the orginal, animated "Hobbit" was that most of the imagery was disturbing and the soundtrack was beautiful. If Guillermo del Toro uses some of the same techniques and styles from Pan's Labyrinth, I'll be satisfied. -
I'm really excited for his movie since i am a huge Tolkien fan and LotR fan! I hope GDT, the new director, does it justice and sticks with PJ's ideas cuz the way he did LotR was amazing! I'm anxious to find out who the cast will be too

Whaaaaat? They're actually going to make the Hobbit? BOOYAH! This, my friends, is good news. I've been hoping that they'd confirm the movie, and here it is!
This has got to be my favorite book of all time. Its better than the LotR trilogy, in fact. . . in my opinion. A combination of humor, fantasy, and adventure, its the perfect book for both children and adults. Personally, I find that its a perfect read for any time, and I never fail to smile while reading it.
Let's hope that the movie can be as good as the book! -

I'm so excited they're making this movie. The Rankin & Bass animated version was my favorite movie as a child. I even had the little book and play along record... Hehehe

The director is going to be Peter Jackson, who directed the Lord of the Rings, and is said to be quite a good film-maker so I have great expectations for the movie.

So excited for this movie! I just hope GDT does a good job and keeps with what PJ already created in the LotR trilogy, which was amazing! Can't wait to find out who they're casting! I hope all of the actors from LotR that are included and can possibly be included in the Hobbit will return!
