Just have seen it on telly. I must totally agree this must be the one of the thousand failures of monster movies, that this one could be shining out and finally have become a MONSTROUS :-) good movie.

Especially the graphics, i turned out to think it should be some squid with no ''monstrous'' looks, but the action and graphics smoothed nicely across my eyes.

Certainly a must for the monster movie fans out there, and lil of drama. :-)

I seen it a couple of nights ago.
I didn't find it scary, but the one part that scared me is when his cell phone rang in the hospital, the house phone rang at the exact same time. I also found it funny when they were mourning over hyun-seo and they were fighting and all on the floor being extremely histaric and people were taking pictures of them

It's worth seeing on the big screen, especially when the theatre is mostly full, for the greatest effect.

    It is REALLLLY good.
I agree it shouldn't be rated R! maybe like pg-13 for the swearing and some well...bloody parts, but still.
anyways, i just want everybody to know that
    THIS IS A KOREAN MOVIE!!!!!!
    KOREAN KOREAN KOREAN!!!!
i just hope nobody gets confused about that, cuz then china or japan will get all the credit.
!!!!! anyways it's a really good, funny, touching, sad, and understandable movie.

The movie in fact is pretty funny to me with a few surprises, and the special effect of that river monster is some excellent work from the San Fransico CG house. Although the acting is a bit different from what we are accustomed to with reference of American acting, I could see a few scenes where the actors' eyes are full of real emotion, or should I say the acting is pretty real to me?

By the way, this is not a Chinese-remake of whatever other movie someone mentioned here, it is a Korean movie. On another note, "The Departed" is a re-make of a Hong Kong movie "Internal Affair" as oppose to a Japanese movie that the announcer said on the TV showing of the Oscar Award evening. People often mixed up all these different Asian regions...

Regardless of some cheesy moments, great acting, great satire, great movie. Pu-leeeeeeeeeeez don't compare it to the 50s Hollywood monster movies. They should be called different genres. If you are expecting guns, police cars, helicopters and typical action, swiftly change your mind.

Very Korean, very human and very touching. The monster (the host) is not one of those really fancy monsters - it's just... ugly and stupid. It's really sad overall, but the emotion and plot is amazing. It's just so KOREAN! No romance, but just family love. The people and monster are so... normal and average, and nothing like any other monster movies. I can't explain it, but it's just so well-done...

AND IT SHOULDN'T BE RATED R BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING THAT BAD IN IT. I 'd encourage all teens to go watch it :P

Can you believe that this was a grand comeback of the terrifying monster movies of the 1950's? This is really a Chinese-remark of a 1955 American-made monster picture too. Remember the movie "It Came From Beyond The Depths",
where the monster from the abyss wrecks havoc on San Francisco? It's just like that.
