Fulci tries to make a hybrid between Lovecraft, the shining and amytiville, adding his explicit fascination with carnage.
Too bad the story barely makes sense, because this guilty pleasure keeps you waiting for more and more hemoglobin.
Ania Pieroni, Catriona MacColl, Dagmar Lassander

Good movie, one of Italy's classics. Definitely a little dated and cheesy now, but if you're a big genre fan this is one of the must-sees.

I like the scene where the bat bites the hand of the guy; this may look very stupid but it works !
Yeah, pretty good B-movie overall. -

Fulci made an enjoyable but flawed movie here. The little boy "Bob" has the most hilarious voice dubbing; with his peachy-face, it made all of his scenes funny. There were some nice gorey over-the-top death scenes which kept oozing on and on. The Italian actors in an American set...( read more)

relize it isn't the kid's fault, but I am here to tell you the voice he is dubbed with is so annoying that it almost ruins the entire flick. Can't a more appropiate voice be found, one that sounds like a real child and not one of those really wealthy ones. Other than that this is...( read more)

The plot is stupid and the acting stinks worse than my socks, but the reason to watch Fulci films is to appreciate and value gore and the way he manages the horror genre. He's unique in that aspect, and I recognize it. Very gory at times, but bloddy brillant as for the genre goes...( read more)

A Very Nice Oldhouse-Slasher-Zombie Film!
El nombre de un cd de Mortician es por está pelicula.
De lo mejor y más memorable de "The Godfather of Gore" aunque asi le dicen también a Herschell Gordon Lewis. -

Fucking hilarious. The version I watched had a very bad dub job... Actually, everything about it was bad but it was strangely compelling

April 14, 2009The acting, the directing, the storyline, the dialogue, the musical score ...were all utter garbage!! This actually could have been a good movie; a movie worthy of the praise that many ppl on here have given it; a movie worthy of a cult following, but Fulci can't direct his way out of a paper bag and bc of that nearly everything in this movie suffers.
I really hope that one day someone remakes this movie! And in doing so I hope that they actually do justice to a plot that is worthy of a script (...as well as a director, actors, and a musical score..) that "Fulci: The Retard" never understood!
...maybe Tim Burton! But, only if he doesn't change the ending!! -
April 14, 2009This movie sucked ass like a fecalpheliac, except for a few things that do manage to make it barely watchable!
I saw this movie years ago and utterly hated it. Perhaps I wasn't old enough to appreciate the gore, the shots of the house, the sheer horror and feeling of dread as death is approaching. (I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but then again you probably don't want to see this piece of garbage anyway!) Even at the end as everyone dies the only thing that really sucked was the reaction time of the characters. If that was me I would have fought like I was the crazy one just to stay alive. Movies with unhappy endings typically aren't my thing bc far to often the endings don't make sense literally bc they have no purpose, no meaning whatsoever... But, the ending did make sense!
