A very powerful strong performances by Charles Laughton. one Of the many film versions of Victor Hugo's novel, this classic from Hollywood's golden year of 1939 remains the best.

Not as good as I remembered, but it still maintains a good sense of atmosphere and some strong performances. It's just that the effect is weakened by it's rather loose storytelling.

Charles Laughton is absolutely brilliant as Quasimoto, what a genius he is and will always remain one of my favorite actors. Tragic, poignant, wonderfully produced with excellent art direction and cinematography. A brilliant classic.

The best of all versions, in my opinion. Amazing performance by Charles Laughton.

I didn't like how they changed the ending from the book in the movie. The ending is supposed to be this dramatic event and even though the movie was good, the ending ruined it for me.
